That made the man tense, though he didn't loosen his hold on Lillian. "Badge, huh? What, you some kinda police man? Cause we ain't done nothing illegal..."

"Look here, we ain't even seen him!" The man immediately pushed Lillian toward Jack, grabbed the man from inside the house and started running.

Jack stumbled but caught her. "You okay?" he asked her quickly. When he saw no harm had come to her he immediately let her go. Jack instantly started running after the two criminals.

"Wait, where are you going?!" she cried after him. She ran to the horses, grabbing their reins and leading them back to the cabin. She tied them up and looked around for Jack. Had he just left her?

Jack returned soon later, dragging one of the men behind him. "You're gonna tell me everything."

Lillian had been waiting quite impatiently, soothing the horses and looking for water for them. Once she heard him, she stormed over to him, walking beside him. "That was very kind of you," she said through gritted teeth. "There could've been someone else hiding, waiting for you to leave. Clancy himself could've been hiding out! I could be dead right now!"

She shrugged wildly, throwing her hands in the air for emphasis. "I don't know! I don't know these men!"

Jack looked at her and then started to laugh, he couldn't help it. The guy on the floor moaned.
"Help me get him in the house."

Lillian let out a frustrated groan, but helped him anyway. She took his other arm and helped Jack drag him into the house, dropping him once they were inside.

"That's what I'm trying to find out," Jack said. He leaned down over the semi-unconscious man and tapped his face. "Wake up."
