"You're a bad liar," Jack said, keeping a nice even pace with the horses.

"He's gonna kill me soon as he sees me with ya! Can you live knowing you caused a man ta die?" Lillian finally spoke up. "Well, if you're stupid enough to get involved with Clancey, then there's nothing we can do to help you. So, please, just shut up and deal with the consequences."

Jack glanced at her and grinned, "I'd listen to the lady."

Lillian grinned back, albeit a bit more shyly. The man clammed up, not saying a word as they rode up the mountain.

When they neared the top Jack held up his hand to warn Lillian to stop her horse. Jack dismounted and then pulled the man off the horse. He untied his hands.
"Now, go on, tell then your back. Nice and loud." He shoved the man up to the top of the mountain.

Lillian got off her horse, going to stand silently by Jack. The man followed Jack's instructions, yelling out that he had arrived, asking Clancy why he hadn't showed up.

Jack motioned her to follow him and they moved up the ridge a bit more. Jack hid beneath some undergrowth. He aimed his gun at Clancy. He was waiting, wanting to see if Clancy would give any information about why he'd killed Lillian's brother or if he'd stolen money from him etc.

"You really think I'd trust with this?" Clancey inquired. Lillian grabbed at Jack's coat sleeve, gritting her teeth. "I bet you he's talking about my brother's gold pieces," she whispered angrily.

"Exactly," Jack whispered back to her, "Wait a little longer," He said as quietly as he could manage. He wanted to know where the gold was. At least Lillian could have her brother's gold and give it to her family.

Lillian's hand was holding her gun, still in its holster. She had to use all her will not to just shoot the bastard right now. They listened to them talk a while, then the man started getting nervous. "Hey, what's wrong with ya?" Clancey asked, sounding suspicious.

"Get ready," Jack whispered to her. He waited tensely, watching as Clancy questioned the man, getting more nervous by the second.
"Now," He said. He aimed and let fire. He hit one of Clancy's men in the leg, got another one in the shoulder.

Of course, Lillian aimed right at Clancey. Not to kill, but injure enough to capture and take him back to town where real justice would be served. She hit him in the shoulder and he went down immediately.

((You know this whole thing played out like one of her infamous romance novels LOL))
When all the men were down Jack ran passed the groaning men to Clancy. He knelt down by him. He cocked the gun and pressed it to his temple. "Where's the gold, Clancy?"

((Of course it did!!))
Clancey yelled out in pain, wincing. "What gold? I -- I don't know what you're talking about it!"
Lillian jumped out of the bushes and stomped over to him. "The gold you stole from my brother after you killed him, that's what gold, you filthy bastard!"

Jack blinked her and then shrugged, it wasn't like he'd never heard that sort of language from a girl before. He just never expected it from Lillian. "Now, I am here to avenge her brother's death, but not before you tell me where the gold is."
