"Go ahead, kill me. I ain't telling ya where it is." Lillian shook her head vigorously. "Don't kill him, Jack. I wanna bring him back to town so everyone can know what he did."

"Maybe they'll stone him to death or worse tar and feather you..I hear it's worse than drowning," Jack said to him.

"Well, if you ain't gonna kill me, I'm definitely not telling you where the gold is." Lillian inhaled deeply through her nose before kicking his ribs with her boot. Hard. "Just because we won't kill you here doesn't mean we won't beat you to within an inch of your life," she growled, not even recognizing the voice that was coming out of her.

"And right now there's two of us and one of you. All your boys went off running. Guess they're afraid of the law. Best you can hope for is that the people in the town take pity on you and lock you away for life." Jack said with a shrug and then yanked Clancy to his feet.

Clancey groaned, crying out with pain as Jack dragged him back to the horses. Lillian just grit her teeth, resisting the urge to kick him again.

Jack tossed the jerk onto the back of his horse, stomach down and then climbed up. He grabbed the reins.

Of course, Clancey complained the whole time. And it took everything in Lillian's power not to shoot him just to shut him up.

Jack could tell she was struggling to control herself, he was too. He couldn't handle the complaining. "Clancy, if you don't shut up I will rip your tongue out. You don't need it, everyone knows you killed him."

That quieted him, but not completely. He would sometimes talk in innuendos about Lillian, though she tried to ignore him.

Jack started to get angry. Nobody talked about her like that. Jack pulled his horse to a stop and turned in the saddle to face him. "You make one more lewd comment to the lady and I will break your nose."

Lillian held her tongue. She wouldn't stop Jack from doing that. He deserved it. Finally Clancey shut up until they got back to town. ((yep it only took them one day to get back lol))

When they arrived Jack shoved Clancy from the horse and dragged him into the sheriff's office.

Lillian decided to wait outside, even though she wanted nothing more than to give the Sheriff a piece of her mind about why nobody went out to look for him.

Jack had the pleasure of locking Mr. Clancy into the jail cell. When he returned he smiled at Lillian. "Hopefully he'll decide to tell us where the gold is, if not then he'll be hanged anyway."

Her arms were crossed over her chest as she paced back and forth in front of the Sheriff's door. She stepped up to Jack, biting her lip, her brow furrowed. "I need that gold, Jack. After I pay you, I won't have anything."
