(( ;D))
She winced, banished every trace of embarrassment from her face, and finally looked up at him with a challenge in her eyes. "So. Your turn."

"I just asked you a question, Beth, it's your turn to ask me one," he replied, chuckling softly.

"I know. And it's the same as yours." She smirked. "Whadda you think of me? Don't hold back. I'll know."

Risk shot her a look before gathering his thoughts. He took a deep breath and looked at her. "You're not as horrible as you think. You're compassionate, patient and true -- I can tell with how you deal with Ershey and I. We're not the easiest people to deal with and yet here you are... you stand up for your friends and the people you care about. And you're amazing with Jo. I think it's great that you're taking care of her yourself."

She blushed ferociously and scowled at him at the same time. "Compassionate? Seriously?" She looked away from him, but looked back after a few moments, the scowl fading as she sighed and scrunched up her nose. "I hate it when people crack that layer. They're never afraid of me again." She had a bit of a self-mocking twinkle in her eye.
Beth hardly dared to act this way with anyone. The vast majority of people she met didn't really know her and never would, and she'd accepted that long ago. But Risk was getting so close, terrifyingly close, and she found herself thinking that maybe she should just turn and run.

"Oh, I still get scared of you, don't worry," smirked Risk, feeling surprisingly at ease after their 'confessions'. "It just don't get scared off like everyone else."

"Well, that's a good thing, I s'pose. 'Cause, you know...rent." She paused for a few seconds, noticing that the music had livened up a little, but they hadn't. And decided she didn't give a damn. Only the Irish could keep up with a dance like this anyway. "And Jo. She'd miss you if I scared you off."

"Why're you always thinkin' about rent?" chuckled Risk, shooting her a playful look. "Is it, uh, comfortable there for you and Jo, by the way?"

"Risk, we useta live in the Points. A rat hole'd be comfortable," she said with a smirk. "Nah, it's fine, though. It's nice." Cue awkward silence. "Well, uh...it's getting late."

((Totally got distracted, I'm here!))
"Where's Jo?" asked Risk, noticing the sudden awkwardness drift in. "Someone watching her?"

"Your sister," Beth said. "And that boy of hers, I think. I oughta get over to Duane Street and pick her up soon, though. Don't want 'em getting stuck with her overnight."

""You wanna head over? We can go get her right now," said Risk as he led her towards the edge of the dance floor.

"You ain't gotta go say goodbye to your date?" she asked innocently, looking back at Raven and trying not to snicker again.

Risk shrugged. "She's busy with Race. You might as well be my date with the rate we're going," he muttered, almost immediately regretting what he just said.

Macbeth gave him a look. "Oh, trust me...you'd know." She led the way out the door and down the street.
