Moonshine only snorted, flashing her a grin before he started to eat.
What he'd done with Rae was nagging at the back of his mind, but he couldn't tell her. Not yet.

She ate her pot pie in silence, watching him. "Hey, I was only kidding when I called you a 'nitwit'..." she said finally, frowning over at him. He looked like he was worried about something.

He sent her a warm smile. "I know." He took a couple more bites, eyes on her. She was so pretty. She was what he wanted. And he was terrified he was about to lose her.

He swallowed his bite with some difficulty, then sighed. "Let's just finish eatin' first, yeah? We can talk after..." Alone. And not in some crowded restaurant.

Rose ate the rest of her food in stony silence. She didn't want to care this much about what he had to say to her. But his tone of voice wasn't comforting.

Moonshine didn't feel very hungry anymore, but he ate anyway, then paid the bill when it came. He stood up out of the booth, offering her his hand and sending her a small smile.
