Risk couldn't help but smirk as he watched Macbeth. "And that'd be Macbeth," he said, turning to Nate. "And this is a good day too."

"Getting worse by the second," Macbeth growled in a warning tone. In fact, it hadn't been a very good day, not that she was going to talk about it in front of some dumb oaf with a tool box. A tool box? Who even had one of those?

"Drama?" Nate asked, his eyebrow arching as he turned to look at the strange girl in front of him. "Hey, if that's really how you feel about it, I can go right back upstairs and undo everything I just did."
Shaking his head, Nate couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Maybe that's just what you're used to, but maybe you should see what people are about before assuming they're all just out to cause drama.

Risk looked at Nate in amazement. He'd never heard anyone speak to Macbeth so pointedly like that.
"Beth, he was just fixing the window, geez..."

Macbeth smirked at the guy. "Most people ain't out to cause it, but it always happens anyway. Just give it a week or two. You'll be mixed up with some gang war or criminal plot or goddamn love triangle." She flopped on her belly, glaring into the couch cushions, and glanced up at Risk. "Let me know the second I can move outta here."
Jo slept obliviously.

"Tell you what, miss," Nate began, trying to remain as civil as possible. "Two weeks, we'll see exactly who's right and who's wrong in this matter. If I get myself mixed up with some gang war or love triangle -- which I won't -- I'll move out myself. However, if my actions are to your liking, provided that you like much of anything at all, we'll just take it from there."
Nate picked up the toolbox and made his way toward the basement door. "You take a second to think that over. I'll be right back."

Macbeth glared at his retreating back and then turned her glare on Risk. "I don't like him."

Risk chuckled as he watched Nate go.
"Wow. You're mean," he said, looking at Beth. "Then again, that's nothing new. You might've just found your new match."

Macbeth rolled her eyes. "Please. He's a lightweight." Compared to her first confrontations with Raven or Tristan, that was nothing. "I still don't like him, though. So how's the whole apartment thing?" she asked casually, throwing a blanket over her niece.

"Still looking for one. I know a couple of places... it should pan out by the end of the week. I got it," he said, giving Macbeth a reassuring smile.
"Nate, you get lost?" shouted Risk over his shoulder.

Nate carefully walked down the basement steps to return the toolbox to its location in an obviously un-explored corner of the dusty basement. He unceremoniously made his way back up to the lobby, closing the basement door tightly behind him.
He made it a point to flash Macbeth a sizeable grin before returning his attention to Risk. "I've been thinking... I might take a walk on down to Irving Hall later on tonight for a drink or two. What do you say?"

Macbeth immediately snorted as if this didn't surprise her. "Oh, yeah, he's a great influence," she said to Risk. His drinking habits actually worried her sometimes...not that she'd ever say so.

"Hey, it'll be his first time," smirked Risk. "We need to make him feel... welcomed, y'know? It'll be fun!"

"You know," Nate began, his attention returning to Macbeth, "this unnecessary attitude isn't very becoming." He paused briefly, his lips curling up into a smile. "Have you ever stopped to think that maybe this 'drama' that you blame on the newcomers is really all based in your surly demeanor?"
He paused, his shoulders shrugging casually. "As for that whole sarcastic 'great influence' comment you just made, maybe you should ask Risk what he and I were discussing upstairs before you go letting your judgements get ahead of you. Again."
