Skittery quirked an eyebrow as he thought, then smiled over at Specs. "Sheepshed?"

Specs grinned widely. "I haven't been there in weeks. C'mon, let's go!"

Skittery scrambled to his feet, throwing his cigarette on the floor and dashing for the door. He rushed down the stairs, dodging a few younger newsies along the way.

Specs followed closely behind Skittery, amazed at his friend's sudden burst of energy. "Hey, wait up!" he shouted as he caught up with him out on the street.

He stopped once he hit the sidewalk, breathing heavily yet laughing. He slapped Specs on the back as he started walking toward the Brooklyn Bridge.

"Geez," muttered Specs, trying to catch his breath. "I thought you were going to run the whole way."

"Sorry, man... I'm just excited to finally be spending time with you..." Skittery knew that sounded lame, but he didn't care at the moment. A guy needed his guy time.

Specs couldn't help but smirk, gently punching Skittery on the shoulder. "I knew you weren't goin' to stay mad at me the whole time." ((Their bromance is cute )

Skittery just smiled in return, shoving his hands in his pockets and watching his feet as they walked. "I haven't been to Sheepshed in so long, I don't even know any of the horses."

"You're not the only one," chuckled Specs as they walked into Sheepshead. "I'm just bettin' on the one that gets the most cheers."

"Has that ever worked for you in the past?" he asked, laughing, as he weaved through the crowd to the betting area. He fished a dollar out of his pocket, trying to ignore his beating heart; a dollar was a lot of money to be betting on a horse. But Racetrack did it all the time, and he was still alive.

"Good point," laughed Specs, following Skittery towards the betting area. Once he saw Skittery pull out a dollar, he immediately fished into his pocket for money.
"I got it," he muttered, moving quick enough to cut Skittery in line and pay for both of their bets.

"What?" he asked, chuckling. "Since when are you so generous? Look, I got the next one," he said before telling the person in charge which horse he wanted to put his money on. He hadn't looked up any tips or asked Racetrack before coming here, so he just picked the horse whose name he liked the best.

"Since we stopped hanging out each other. I owe you one," he said, handing him his ticket.

"Well, I won't deny you that, my friend," he said with a smile. He turned and made his way to the stands so they could watch the race.
