Ershey sighed. It was already nine in the evening and she still had another hour to go before her shift was done. Walking towards a messy table, she grabbed an empty bucket and wet dishcloth, ready to tackle this new evil. Being the only waitress with a night shift was driving her crazy. Plus, if she threw another fit, that'd be it for this job. She started picking up the dishes, praying to God that another customer wouldn't walk in the door.

Mush rushed in, breathing heavily and hoping he wasn't too late. He had just ran all over Manhattan (or so it seemed) and was absolutely starving. But, then again, when wasn't he starving? He just wanted to get a hot dog real quick, that was all. Honest!

Great, another customer, thought Ershey as she heard the door open and feet shuffle in. She set down the dishcloth on the table (which was only halfway done), wiped her hands on her supposed apron and put on her best smile.
"How may I help you today?"

"Hot dog, please." Mush replied, leaning back against the door to catch his breath a little. He heard his stomach rumble and quickly clasped a hand over it.

Ershey nodded, smirking once she heard his stomach grumble. "Hungry, huh? Why don't you take a seat? Looks like you've been running for a while."
She made her way to the kitchen and started putting together his order. Damn cook for leaving early. "Want anything special on that hot dog?" she shouted from the counter.

Mush sat down in the nearest booth and immediately began tapping on the table with his fingers, a nervous/impatient habit. "Uh... Ketchup?"
He had only caught a glimpse of this girl before she went back to the kitchen, but what he'd seen had been pretty darn nice. So, obviously, his brain turned to mush. Heh.

"Got it," she nodded, putting ketchup on the hotdog. She made her way towards the newsboy, glancing at the mess she had to clean up.
"Here you go," smiled Ershey, setting the plate down in front of him. "Hope you like it." It was only then that she got a good look at the newsboy. Pretty cute, she thought, only then realizing that she was staring for a little too long.

"Th-thanks." He ducked his head down and shoved the hot dog into his mouth.

Ershey blinked. Was I just staring? Shit. "Uh, yeah, you're welcome," she stammered. "Let me know if you need anything else."
She immediately made her way over to the messy table she was working on, grabbing her dishcloth and keeping her eyes on the table.

About 2 minutes later, Mush stood up. "Uh, I'm -- I'm done." He called out, shoving his hands in his pockets. Of course he wasn't fully sated, but that rarely ever happened.

"You can just leave the money on the table," said Ershey, as she struggled to hold the mop, the bucket, and the dirty dishes. "I'll get to it."

Mush dug around in his pockets, searching for the two bit piece he needed to pay for the hot dog.
His eyes suddenly went wide. "Oh, shit." He said softly, feeling nothing but a hole in his pocket.

Ershey was making her way towards the counter when she heard the newsboy's exclamation. "Everything alright?" she asked, turning around to look at him.

Mush's eyes were as wide as saucers as he snapped his head up to meet the girl's eyes.
"Uh... I don't have any money." Better to get to the point, right?

Ershey bit her lip. Great. Now what was she going to do?
An idea came to her as she quickly rushed over to him. "Are you busy the next couple hours?"
