He sighed and told himself firmly that there were not any recording devices in the area. "Yeah, I like guys. And girls. I mean...just attractive people in general. But I'm not really...in the market. And I seriously need to get home."

Sebastian sighed again and followed him, trying to think of a way to explain this that wouldn't defeat the purpose of saying no in the first place. "It's not personal or anything, okay? It's just...me. Having issues." Yes, issues with a hot, fascinating guy trying to pick him up. He kind of hated everything right now.

He was still kind of worried about it, among about a million other things. But he just nodded and went on following Ben back toward his house, enduring an awkward silence to end all awkward silences.

When they made it to his front porch, he didn't go inside, just turned to look at him. "For the record, I think you're being stupid."

He sighed for the third time that night and slumped against the porch railing. "I'm not out to my parents, okay?" he said, picking the easiest possible explanation.

"Yeah, well, people tend to figure things out in this town," he reminded Ben. "And it's not just that...there's the whole Lena thing, she's still kind of stalking me...there are valid reasons to decide not to make a connection," he said defensively, not sure why he felt the need to prove anything to this guy.

"Yeah, but I can't just keep doing this..." His fingers were twisting around each other in a pretty obvious nervous gesture. He stopped when he noticed. Ben Kingston was clearly not good for his self-control. "I should go talk to Clara."
