Zippy shot up immediately, grabbing her bag and making sure all the stolen goods were still safely inside. Depending on who it was, zippy may knock them out herself.

The door finally burst open. Riddle swung her rolling pin--and it connected with her father's head. He stumbled and went down with an expression of astonishment, bruised but not unconscious. Riddle yelped, gave Erin one wide-eyed look, grabbed her own bag of supplies, and ran for her life.

Zippy's eyes grew wide, shocked that it was the Rabbi. She hesitated, torn between wanting to make sure he was ok and to dash out. She hopped over the rabbi and sprinted outside the synagogue.

Riddle had run a good block or two with no intention of stopping--but for some reason, once she was sure no one was chasing her, she found herself slowing down and waiting to see if her partner in crime caught up. When Erin appeared, she raised her hand in a somewhat sheepish greeting. "Well, looks like going home's outta the question once and for all."

"well, he had no idea who you were," zippy pointed out, catching her breath. It was too bad it wasn't Joe she hit. "where you off to now? Come to the LH, wear your disguise."

She had to laugh. "What, just move in and wear a scarf 'round my face twenty-four hours a day? I know you newsies can be a shifty bunch, but I'm pretty sure they ain't gonna overlook something like that." Still, she fell into step beside Erin, willing to see her home. At least, she thought--reminding herself for a moment of some stupid lovesick fourteen-year-old girl--she could catch a glimpse of where Goblin lived.

It was early morning, and the Newsies were already out selling. Zippy nodded at a young boy who was hawking a headline on a nearby corner.
"WARDEN MURDERED! PRISONER ESCAPED AND ON THE RUN!"
It took Zippy a second to register what was happening. She glanced at Lena.

Riddle ducked her head and pulled the scarf up a little higher. This was absurd. She really ought to flee the city, like she'd told Erin last night...but where the hell would she go? What skills or experience or connections did she have? "This'll be fun," she murmured sarcastically to her companion, strolling past the newsie and hoping they reached this lodging house soon.

Zippy glanced at her. "You're famous," she joked, wondering for a minute if she should really be walking with her. "so how am I gonna know when your friend takes care of Joe?"

"I'll come see you at this lodging house of yours," she assured her. "Just make sure Goblin ain't around." Joseph might be the least of her troubles, but he seemed to be the worst of Erin's, and other than laying low, Riddle honestly had nothing better to do. Besides, she always liked the taste of revenge.

"great!" zippy replied. " do I have to pay you, or do you need some sort of a favor?"

Riddle gave her a thoughtful look, then shrugged. "If I ever need a favor, I'll call it in." God knew she needed money, but she doubted Erin had enough to make a difference; besides, the food and clothing from the synagogue were a good start. And what with her current predicament, who knew what kind of help she might need in the days to come?

"deal," zippy agreed, although she didn't feel great about it. She knew what riddle was capable of and knew she had to stay on her good side.

"Good." She smirked. "We gonna make it to this lodging house soon?" She wouldn't go in, of course, but maybe he'd be up on the roof or something...God, she was pathetic.

"Yeah, its down this street," Zippy replied, fighting to keep her eyes open. She turned on Duane St, and stopped in front of the building. "You sure you can't come in? Goblin probably won't even notice, its early morning already, everyone's out selling papes." She needed some sleeping hours before the evening edition. Besides, the stolen money would make up for her missed selling hours.
