"When are you graduating?" Zippy asked, glancing up at him.

"Next year. Mom wants me to go to medical school, but dad wants me to do business. I dunno yet. All of it costs too much." He chewed the inside of his lip, brow furrowing a little.

Zippy tilted her head at him. "Well...what do YOU wanna do?" She asked, thinking he'd be perfect at whatever he decided to do. Especially at being a doctor, he was so caring.

He sighed a little. "I really don't know what I want." He looked over at her. "I know I wanna be happy. I want a family, and I wanna be able to take care of them."

She frowned, just as Mama's was appearing in the distance. "That's good and all, but how could you have no idea what interests you? I've always loved art."

He sighed again. "I mean, I know what I'm interested in. I just don't know what I wanna do. I like history, maybe I could be a professor. I like helping people, I could be a doctor. I'm good at math, I could be a banker or something....I know what I can do, but I don't know what I want to do."

Zippy smiled, taking his hand and squeezing it. "You'll figure it out, I have no doubt in my mind about that." She opened up the door to Mama's, telling the hostess that they needed a table for 2.

They were led to a booth tucked into a cozy little corner, and David slid into it, smiling at Zippy. "Like I said, I just wanna be happy, and be able to take care of my future family."

"Yeah, I can see that in you," Zip replied, looking at the menu. "But you shouldn't enter a profession simply because you know it'll bring in a lot of dough."

"I know. Happiness is more than money." He looked over the menu, but took glances at her every so often. She was so pretty. And somehow, for some unknown reason, she was his.

"Want to share spaghetti and a salad?" She suggested, looking up at him. She liked that he wanted a family and to make enough money to take care of them. Too much. Because, in all reality, he could do that better than any newsie she had ever known. Even the corrupt ones. And, for some reason, he was hers. (( ))

He smiled at her, nodding. "That sounds good." He took a piece of bread from the basket on the table, munching on it. "So, what should we do tonight?"
((They're sort of ridiculously adorable.))

"I don't know, challenge Tag and Specs to a game of scrabble? I bet we'd totally win, but they both read a lot so I don't know," Zippy joked, reaching for her glass of water.

He laughed at that, ordering their food when the waitress came, then taking Zippy's hand from across the table. "Double dates already?"

Zippy chuckled. "I'm not sure I'd consider scrabble in the LH parlor a double date, but if you want to think of it as one, sweetie, you can." the waitress came by and they ordered their food.
