Ershey didn't know what she was doing. She was sitting on a pew, staring up at the altar as she let complete silence take over. She was amazed at how things have turned out -- with Ericson, Risk and even the whole Eastman kidnapping. How in the world was she still standing here? There must be some higher power, she thought. She sighed, not sure what she was thinking in the first place. She wanted to say thanks. Maybe, just maybe, someone up there would hear her. ((Aaaand go! )

((Script has NO female friends! Only Wraith! It makes her sad and too boy-reliant. SO I AM HERE!))
St. Patrick's Cathedral was usually the only place Script could go where she knew she'd be on her own. Skittery wasn't Catholic, and none of the other newsies ever went to church. So imagine her surprise when she walked out of the confession booth, and saw a familiar face sitting in a pew in the basically empty church.
She bit her lip and went over. She didn't say anything, just slide into the row, lowered the kneeler and went to her knees, crossing herself and praying the 5 Hail Marys and 4 Our Fathers the priest ordered her to say.

((Yay!! It was about these two had a thread together ) Ershey glanced over at the girl. She was sure she'd seen her around the lodging house before but she never met her formally. She'd been concerning herself with Mush, Macbeth and Risk so much that sometimes everyone else became a blur. Once she heard her actually start praying, Ershey looked at her in amazement. There were actually things she had to say?

((Seriously!))
She finished with a prayer her mother used to say to her before she went to bed: "Angelito, mi guia, dulce compania. No me dejes solo, en noche ni de dia. Amen." She crossed herself, then moved to sit on the pew.
She sat there a minute, before glancing over at Ershey. "Hi.."

Ershey smiled awkwardly at the girl. Oh, why not, there was no one around...
"I'm Ershey," she said, offering her hand for a handshake. "You live at the lodging house, right?"

She gave her a small smile. "Yeah, I do." She shook her hand. "Script."

Ershey gave her a small smile. "You, uh, come here a lot?" It'd been her first time to come here today. She definitely didn't think she was going to run into a fellow newsie in the process.

She nodded. "I try to come every Sunday. And then occasionally during the week, when I have time. Like today." She shrugged. "I like having someone to talk to. The priest, I mean. I talk to God all the time." She blushed. She wasn't one of those staunch Bible Thumpers or anything -- she was having premarital sex for pete's sake -- but she couldn't shake the Catholic Guilt, either way.

"Is it worth it?" she asked bluntly then catching herself and shaking her head, hoping that she hadn't interpreted wrong. "I mean, does it do anything? Coming here? Our lives are shi -- uh, crap -- but you might as well be talking to anyone in the street... right?" Ershey looked at her helplessly, not quite sure what she was looking for.

Script bit her lip, considering the question. "I guess...I guess it just makes me feel better. I gotta believe that there's something bigger than me, than all of this...and that someone's looking out for me, even with all the bad stuff. Especially with the bad stuff."

"Yeah, bad stuff," nodded Ershey, chuckling softly as she looked down at her hands. "You're with that Goblin kid, right?" She'd seen her around with him at the lodging house. Then again, it seemed as if Goblin was hiding from everyone nowadays.

She winced, looking down at her lap. "No. Not anymore. We, uh...the Refuge didn't really help out our relationship." Eastman didn't help either. Or Goblin's obsession with revenge.

"Sorry, I didn't know..." started Ershey, feeling incredibly horrible for making that mistake. Gossip didn't fly as quick as they used to these days.
((Last one for today! Night! <3))

((Night!))
She shook her head. "It's okay. It's been a couple months. I'm--I'm actually dating Skittery now." She smiled a little. Thinking of him made her feel better.

Ershey looked at her in surprise. "Skittery? Really?" Ershey had seen him around enough around the lodging house, especially when she and Mush spent time with the boys.
