She nodded slightly, hoping her desperation wasn't showing in her eyes. She was tired of being alone.

He pressed his forehead against hers, still holding her face, his voice soft. "I couldn't stop thinkin' about ya, Rosie...I wanted ya so badly to call me."

She sniffed, her eyes closed. A few stray tears slipped past her lashes and landed on her cheek. "I was scared," she admitted.

He brushed her tears away with his thumbs. "Scared a' what, baby? A' me? Why?"

She shrugged, unable to explain it. She was scared of getting to know someone, letting someone else get to know her. Someone that wasn't Ben. She hated that man, but he had taken a part of her heart with her when he'd left. And she was afraid she could never get it back. And she was afraid to give her heart away again...

He searched her face, sensing her wheels turning. She looked so scared, and he was compelled to make it better. So he leaned forward, kissing her softly.

She let him kiss her, but only for a few seconds. Then she pulled away, her heart racing. "Thank you," she said, letting out a deep, shaky breath. "I think we should focus on becoming friends first, getting to know each other... Y'know?"

He nodded, moving to clutch her hands in his. "Okay, Rosie. Whatever ya want."

She smiled over at him, now feeling extremely relieved.
The next few months were spent doing just what Rose had suggested. They got to know each other quite well, and Tyler seemed like he actually liked her. He wasn't scared off by her being moody and hormonal as well as snarky and sarcastic. And Rose really liked Tyler. He was a great friend to her, and she could tell he was going to be an even better father.
One night, Rose was popping some popcorn, waiting for Tyler to get home so they could have their weekly movie night. It was his turn to choose.

Tyler moved in just a couple of weeks after she told him about the baby, and much to his surprise they got along pretty well. They had gotten better at talking things out with each other, and he had even been reading some of those baby books Rose had brought home.
He was also glad to be just right down stairs if she ever needed him, and it was easy for him to get home quick once he was done with his shift.
He came in, carrying Chinese take-out. "Heya, Rosie, I'm home."

She inhaled deeply, smelling her favorite orange chicken, and sighed happily. "It's about time! I'm starving, and I also don't think I can stay up to watch a whole movie. So don't get made if I fall asleep..." She rummaged around in the bag and found her food and some chopsticks.

He arched a brow at her. She was just starting to show, her belly just a little fuller, looking like she maybe ate too much, but it excited him more than he was willing to admit. "Ya feelin' okay, Sugar?"

She arched a brow right back at him. "Yeah, I'm fine... Why?"

He shrugged. "Just makin' sure yer feelin' alright." He smiled at her, taking his food to the living room, setting it on the coffee table and kicking his shoes off.

She shrugged, then followed him. She should probably be used to that by now, since he asked her all the time if she was okay. Apparently he was a bit protective. Of her or the baby, she wasn't really sure. She sat down next to him, pulling her legs up and crossing them Indian style. "So, what're we watching tonight, cowboy?"
