He snorted. She'd been calling him 'cowboy' lately, and it amused him. "Star Trek, the new one. I'm in the mood to see shit blow up." He grinned at her, putting the dvd in, then sitting down to eat as it started.

Rose ate as she watched, completely engaged in the movie. She'd never seen it before, but it seemed pretty good so far. Then when Chris Pine came on screen, she gasped. "Oh, I like this movie."
((Me too, girl. Me. Too.))

((Oh, uh huh!))
He turned towards her, arching a brow, giving her a look. The fact that she openly checked another guy out -- even an actor she had no chance of ever meeting -- annoyed him for some reason.

She was oblivious, her eyes not even leaving the screen as she ate. Then, right before Kirk got exiled to the icy planet, she fell asleep, her head landing on Tyler's shoulder.

Tyler licked his lips, watching her. He sighed, relishing in the feel of her against him for a minute.
In the last couple of months, he'd developed strong feelings for Rose, but he didn't want to ruin what they'd built by complicating it even more than it already was.
He turned off the TV, then shifted to lift her into his arms, bridal-style, and carried her to bed.

She woke up slightly when she hit the bed, her eyes still a bit bleary. "Mm, thanks, cowboy," she said groggily. Then she fell right back asleep. And dreamed of Tyler.

That night, Tyler lay wide awake in bed, thinking of Rose. It took him a long time to fall asleep.

The next month consisted of many Tyler-centric dreams. And that made Rose think. She loved him as a friend, of course. He was amazing. So nice and caring and thoughtful and a lot more. But her feelings for him just might be deeper than she realized...
The day before one of her doctor's appointments, Tyler was watching a baseball game in the living room. She joined him, resting one hand on her stomach. "You...know what tomorrow is right?

He muted the TV, looking up at her. Her belly was still only a small bump. It made him concerned she wasn't eating enough or something, but then, she was only five months along.
"Uh, tomorrow?"

She rolled her eyes, though a smile appeared on her lips. "I have a doctor's appointment. And we get to find out if it's a boy or a girl." Tomorrow was also her birthday, but she had neglected to mention that fact.

He sat up, blinking at her. "Yeah? So...so, can I come with ya? To the appointment?"

"Of course, silly," she replied, laughing. "It's at four, so I'll just meet you there after work." Rose worked in the marketing department of a huge real estate company; that's how she was able to afford such a nice, big apartment. "Then maybe... We could go out to dinner or something?"

He smiled at her, reaching for her hand. He gave it a squeeze, meeting her eyes. "It's a date."

"It's a date," she agreed, smiling widely. She took his arm and put it around her shoulders, nestling up against him.

He held her against him, turning to press a kiss to her temple. "We can change it if ya want. Game's won anyway."
