Eli Green stood in front of the Distribution Center, blinking at the massive chalkboard of headlines. He couldn't believe he was doing this. Sure, he needed something to do while he was looking for a real job, but this---this seemed like something for a 10 year old boy, not a grown man such as himself.
Either way, he needed money since his roommate and best friend, Luke, was sick. And Eli went crazy in the factory assembly lines. At least he could run around the city while doing this. He glanced around, trying to figure out what to do now. Zippy was the bookstore, and even though she couldn't help him, he swore that he'd give selling papers a try. Just for now.
((come play! come play!))

((I did it! I made a new character and now I wanna use her!))
Trixie Duncan was apparently not cut out for selling newspapers. She was having trouble reading some of it, and her stack kept threatening to slip out of her grasp. She'd only bought twenty (since that's what the girl in front of her had done), but now she was thinking she ought to have only bought ten.
Or, just give up on the whole thing and go back to dancing.

Eli finally gave in and bought two dozen papers. He figured, hey, if Zippy's awkward boyfriend could do it, so could he (( oh script)) . He headed down the street, noticing a pretty blonde newsgirl. Maybe there were some perks to being a newsie after all. "whoa there, sweets." Eli said from behind her, catching her stack of papers as they slipped out from under her arm. He smiled at her. "do...you know what you are doing, because I have no idea."

She looked up at him gratefully as he handed her the papers back. "Oh, I ain't gotta clue. Figured it be easy, just yell stuff or whatever. But I can't even read most a' these headlines."
((David is TOTALLY awkward!))

Eli grinned at her. "just make stuff up. That's what I was planning on doing. Here, I'll show ya." Eli took one of the papers out of his own stack, tossing the rest on the ground. He didn't even glance at the actual paper before yelling,
"HARLOT FOUND DEAD IN ALLEY: MURDER OR ACCIDENT?" and "CHINESE PIRATES TAKE OVER US NAVY SHIP". He sold 10 papers instantly, surprising even himself. "see? Easy as apple pie."

She watched him, a little impressed. She tried it herself, and a couple people came up to buy a paper from her, but not many. She bit her lip in thought, then moved her hand to her shirt. "I think I gotta faster way." She unbuttoned a couple of buttons on her blouse, then tried again.

Eli was about to advise her that she had to commit to the ridiculous headlines when he watched her sell about 5 instantly from unbuttoning her blouse. He didn't blame those sorry chaps, he nearly bought a few from her himself. He wondered for a minute if thats what Zippy meant when she told him that she relied on her own tactics to sell papers quickly and efficiently. He shuddered at the thought, and then patted his new friend on the shoulder.
"There ya go." He chuckled, nodding at her. "Impressive. You new here, too?"

She beamed, rather proud of herself as she pocketed her money. "New to sellin', yeah. Not new to the area, though. You?"

"Eh sorta," Eli responded, with a shrug. "Been hanging around Brooklyn a lot, I've been living in the South for a while." He smiled at her.
"Wanna race to see which of us newbies can sell faster?"

She shot him a smirk. "Ya know there's no way you'll beat me right? 'Cause I got somethin' you're never gonna have."

"Oh you have a lot of somethin I don't have, Sweets." Eli joked, making a huge deal of looking her up and down. "But I got style." He smirked playfully at her. "What are the stakes?"

She grinned at him. "I win, ya take me out and buy me drinks. And if you win?"

"If I win, I get to take you out to dinner and I get a goodnight kiss," Eli responded with a smirk. "Damn, Sweets. I know I'm fine as hell, but I don't even know ya name. I'm that good- you don't know what you're getting yourself into." He held out his hand to seal the deal.

She giggled, because he amused her, and she took his hand, shaking. "Deal! And the name's Trixie."

"Pier- I mean Eli. Name's Eli," Eli shared, smiling at her and shaking her hand firmly. "Game on, Sweets." He took his stack of papers and went across the street.
