Rose stopped walking, a bit surprised to hear such cheer from him.
"Hello, my lord. Is everything...all right?" She had just come from the main sitting room; she and some of her cousins had been decorating the large Christmas tree.

"Yes! Everything is great! Your family is wonderful," he said with a huge smile and then kissed her cheek. "How is your holiday going?"

"You should probably go upstairs to your chambers, get some rest," Rose suggested, looking around for Edwin.

He laughed, "no. I am not ready for bed," he said ad wrapped his arms around her in a loving embrace. "do you know that I absolutely adore you?"

Rose blushed, but she also fought the urge to laugh. "Oh, do you? No, I didn't know that."

"I do!" he said with a huge smile. "It's why I let you be mean to me and all that and pretended to be angry. I just wanted you to talk to me," he rattled off quickly, swaying a bit. He grabbed her arm for support.

"That's very interesting, my lord," she commented, standing beside him and sliding her arm around his back. She started walking toward the stairs, planning on helping him up to his chambers.

Jimmy leaned against her, letting her lead him up the stairs. When they reached his chambers he paused to look into her eyes. "Stay with me." he said.

Her heart momentarily stopped, but she found herself nodding her head. "Of course, my lord," she said, hoping she sounded as calm as she wanted to be. But Jimmy was probably too drunk to take notice.

He opened the door to his chambers and stepped inside, letting her follow him in. He studied her for a moment and then leaned down and kissed her.

She couldn't help but let out a small squeal of surprise into his mouth. Even now that they were somewhat friends, they still hadn't kissed since their wedding night. And Rose had forgotten how nice it was.
