Jimmy looked confused and bewildered as he watched his cousin laugh and flirt with Mr. Conlon.
He held out Rose's chair for her and waited for her to sit down.
"You know Rose...you've done quite well." Rae said to her smiling.

Rose furrowed her brow, taking her napkin and setting it in her lap. "What do you mean?"

"I..." Rose gulped. "I have no idea what you're talking about," she said with a nervous chuckle. "Mr. Conlon is here on business. Isn't that right, my lord?"

"oh yes and his business is so fascinating," Rae said with a chuckle.
Jimmy cleared his throat. "Well, regardless of that how are you enjoying your time?"

"That's lovely," Rose replied, trying to suppress a wide smile. She could only hope there would be a wedding to attend soon.

"Mr. Conlon also said he was willing to invest in your brothers new business venture." Rae said with a grin. "in my opinion it would be good to have multiple partners."
Jimmy gaped at his cousin and then cleared his throat. "I suppose that might be a good idea. Mr. Conlon and I can discuss the details later."

Rose suppressed a smirk as a footman served her some onion soup. See? Business. She had been right all along.

As the day drew to a close and Mr. Conlon decided to retire after dinner Rae stormed right up to the young married couple glaring.
"You schemers!"

Rose tried her best to look surprised, but she stepped closed to Jimmy anyways, grabbing hold of his arm for protection. "Whatever are you talking about?!"

Rae rolled her eyes, "He's handsome and intelligent. I'll give him that. I might consider seeing him again." She smirked.
Jimmy grinned, "So you liked him?"
"I wouldn't say that, he's also extremely irritating and egotistical."

She liked him, Rose thought to herself. She could just tell. "Well, good thing he'll be staying here for a while. What with the business deals to be made and all..."
