Jimmy bowed his head as well and held his hand out to her. "You must be tired and hungry from your journey, but I have someone I'd like for you to meet. I thought you might like a companion of sorts." He said to her as he led her inside. "You have your own rooms at the west end of the castle, the garden is right below you." He remarked and continued walking.
((HAHA he hopes rae will talk some sense into her))

((LOL! We'll see!))
Rose followed him in silence, gazing around the castle with wide eyes. It was actually a very nice place to live. She just couldn't imagine herself ever being happy again, though.

"Since it's a nice night my cousin though we should have dinner out in the garden. I agreed with her for once." He led her out into the garden.
Rae rose from her seat in one of the chairs, placing her book down on a table.
"There she is, I have heard all about you," Rae said with a huge smile.
"This is my cousin The Lady of Walpole," He stepped back and smiled.
Rae clasped her hands, "I am terribly sorry for you loss. Jimmy go shoot some arrows or something while we ladies chat hmm?" Jimmy shook his head and smiled.

Once her husband was gone, Rose let out a soft sigh, glancing up at the Lady of Walpole. "Thank you...for your condolences. They mean a lot in this trying time." She wondered what she would think if it was revealed she hadn't even cried.

Rae patted her arm and then poured Rose some tea. "Yes, but sometimes words are meaningless when you're lost in sadness." She poured herself a cup of tea and then took a sip, "so my dear cousin says you despise him," she smirked.

((LOL! Love. You.))
Rose bit her lip, stirring some sugar into her tea. "Well, I'm sure the feeling is mutual," she replied, eyes not leaving her cup. Admittedly, she had done nothing to encourage any feeling of affection or even civility in her husband.

"You would be very surprised to hear that he feels otherwise and that he doesn't understand the animosity you feel for him. He thinks you're rather interesting," Rae shrugged.

Rose arched a brow over at her. "Are you positively sure about that?" She could scarcely believe her ears.

"He has never lied to me, ever," Rae said to her with an assuring nod. "And it's troubling him how unhappy he makes you. It was partly why he decided to come home without you."

Rose took a breath, then put down her spoon. "Pardon my being so...forthright, but why should your cousin think otherwise? I barely know him, and no one on Earth could say our marriage was a love match..."

"Well, he knows you didn't marry for love, but he didn't think there would be hate between you. Jimmy is actually a good man and he dislikes seeing anyone so unhappy. Did you actually think he'd want you to be miserable for the rest of your life?" Rae asked with a laugh. "If so, then you really think very little of him."

"Would you like to be married off to some wastrel solely because of your fortune? Now that he has collected all of my inheritance, no doubt he will gamble it away within the year. How is that not supposed to make me miserable?" she inquired. She wondered why she felt comfortable enough with the Lady of Walpole to voice all of this.

Rae gaped at her and then burst out laughing. "My dear, if Jimmy has one fault it's the whiskey not the card tables. You know nothing of the circumstance. Oh dear." She sighed heavily. "His brother gambled away a sizable amount of their fortune. Jimmy, being the eldest was left with the debt. Before his father died, he hadn't known how large a sum his brother owed. It was so high that he could have lost his home and lands attached putting dozens of people out of work. Jimmy looked for a solution. He met your father and you came up in casual conversation. He even saw you that day, out riding your horse. Your father agreed to pay off his brother's debts and to see you settled with the good duke because of his character. Honestly, your father loved you, he wouldn't have saddled you with a gambling baboon."
Rae finished her speech with a flourish of her hand and a smirk.

Rose stared at her, open-mouthed. She had no idea what to say. At all.
