Her heart swelled in her chest. No one had ever said anything like that to her before; it was sort of overwhelming, and she silently cursed when she felt tears spring up in her eyes. She didn't know what to say.

Until tonight, Rose hadn't known something so sappy and romantic could make her cry. That was something only those girls did, not her. "I hate you," she said, shoving weakly at him as a tear rolled down her cheek.
