He snorted. "You're like the least girly girl I've ever known, Rosie." He grinned. "That's why I love ya so much."

"And yet you made me wear a dress," she pointed out, raising an eyebrow accusingly.

"Well, now, what I said was get gussied up. Ya woulda' looked just as pretty in a pair a slacks." He gave her a crooked grin, winking at her. "If ya had, I woulda' had an easier time checkin' out yer ass."

Moonshine ate, watching her at the same time, finally he put his fork down and sighed. He waved the waiter over. "Can we have this to-go, please? And our check?"

He nodded, but didn't say anything. He paid the check and took the paper bag the waiter handed to him after he'd packed their food up. "Come on." He didn't sound mad, just...disappointed. He put on his coat, then walked towards the door and outside.

He raked a hand through his hair. "You're hidin' somethin' from me. I don't know what it is, but ya are, I can tell. And I'm thinkin', based on how uncomfortable ya were back there, that it's ya don't wanna be out in public with me."
