He sighed. He did NOT want to see Tristan. But what choice did he have?
"Yeah. Fine."

"Well...um...have fun you two." Zippy replied, giving David a curious look. "Be careful. I'd come with, but Tristan's wife hates me." With that, she kissed David on the mouth. "Seriously. Eli is crazy. Be careful." With Tristan, you never knew.
Eli glared. "Am not!" Eh, he was.

He nodded, holding her a minute longer, kissing her a little deeper. He was still hurt that she'd lied to him. "I love you, Erin," he wanted to use her real name for emphasis. "You know that, right?"

Eli made a gagging noise and turned away.
Zippy smiled up at him. "I love you, too." She glanced between him and Eli once more, raising a brow, before heading to the DC to sell the evening edition.
"Why so blue, Lovebug?" Eli asked David, watching Zippy leave.

David frowned, shooting him a glance. "I don't like lying to her. It's not right."

"You aren't really lying. I'm lying, and its for her own good. We can tell her after, I guess. She's not gonna like it, you said it yourself," Eli told him. "C'mon, lets go to Brooklyn, and take care of this."

David grumbled under his breath, but followed along beside Eli. "I hate Tristan, by the way."

"Why? Did he slap around my sister too?" Eli asked coldly. A girl growing up by herself in New York- it didn't surprise him, yet completely pissed him off.

He shook his head. "No. But he cheated on his wife with her when we first started dating." He frowned darkly, anoyed.

Eli wasn't sure what to say to that. "Why...why would Erin do that?" While he had just reconnected with his sister, everything about her seemed so pure and innocent. And perfect. Suddenly this knowledge of her imperfection made Eli greatly uncomfortable, instead of relieved- for he was no saint either.

He sighed, lifting a shoulder. "She was real hung up on him, I guess. She came over drunk one night, crying and full of confessions." He frowned. "So I hate the guy 'cause he had her first."

"Right." Eli nodded, a bit put off that he's gonna have to deal with another one of Erin's boyfriends. "Let's just get in and get out then, shall we?"

David nodded. "Agreed." He glanced over at him, thinking. "I'm glad you're looking out for her, Eli."

Eli scoffed at him. "I dont know why you think I wouldn't." They had reached the Brooklyn Bridge, and Eli wondered if they should have just stolen a carriage like he did with Trixie. But Golden Boy Jacobs probably wouldn't have liked that.

David shrugged. "Maybe I thought I would be the only one who did."
