"Sick?" Footsteps frowned. Script was sick, Goblin injured, and Bitter--well, she'd save the news about Bitter for later, but overall, her friends weren't doing very well. And there was nothing that troubled her more. "I'd like to see her...if you don't think it'd upset her more, I mean." Then she noticed the bread and meat, and her face relaxed into a smile as she went to fix herself a sandwich. "Thanks, love."

He blushed fiercely at the pet name, and nodded. "She's, uh, prob'ly upstairs. She doesn't sell much." He made himself a sandwich, glancing over at all.
He was completely in love with her. And now she was here. And it terrified him.

((*cuddles him*))
'Steps finished making her sandwich and took a few rather un-ladylike giant bites before slowing down and looking over at Cav sheepishly. She would have stood there and looked at him all day if she could have. She'd barely seen him in so long--or it seemed like so long--and the couple of kisses they'd stolen in the Refuge seemed like a dream. She still wasn't sure exactly what had happened or would happen between them, and she had a feeling Cav was just as confused as she was. All she knew was that this--the two of them together--had been a long time coming, and it made her heart sing.
"So how have you been?" she asked at last with a smile, realizing he'd given her on the news on everyone but him. "Gotten into any trouble? Swept dozens of girls off their feet?" She said it like she was joking, while secretly trying to convince herself that it was perfectly all right if he had; it wasn't like they'd made any promises...

He smirked, though his ears were still pink with nerves and embarrassment. "My life's been babysittin' Goblin, mostly." He glanced at her as he ate before saying, "Been thinkin' a lot about you."
In Cav's mind there wasn't another girl on the planet worth wasting time on. He'd waited for her without any difficulty at all.

"He does kind of need it, doesn't he?" she said with a sigh. Footsteps had great respect for her "boss" and thought he was a genius, but she was aware that when he got wrapped up in his plans and forgot about his own safety, it tended to end badly for him. At Cav's next words, she looked down with a shy smile. "I've been thinking about you too. I missed all our talks. Even though I always did most of the talking," she said with a playful look. "I'll have to get you rambling about something one of these days." ((Just for the record, I've decided she speaks with a brogue, despite leaving Ireland when she was five. ))

((Aw, just a little hint of one totally fits her! Cav probably thinks it's sexy as hell but won't admit it.))
Cav let out a soft chuckle, blushing again and hiding it behind his sandwich. "I'm not much of a rambler, 'Steps. You know that." He finished his sandwich and glanced over at her. "I--would--" He took a breath. "Somethin' tells me Goblin's not gonna wanna keep hanging around here. If he leaves, I figure I will, too. Would--would you...come with me?"

Footsteps grinned. "You might not know it 'cause you've only known me in the Refuge, but my feet like to ramble even more than my mouth. If you and Goblin want to go to Siberia, I'll follow you." Though she doubted they'd actually leave New York, and the thought made her a little uneasy. Been in this city too long already... years too long... But she banished the thought; she had friends here, people who needed her. She had Cav. She could stand to stick around a while...right?

He smiled a little at her, reaching a hand out to touch her hair before he could stop himself. "I don't know about Siberia. I think we're just gonna end up in Brooklyn or somethin'."

She chuckled. "I can handle Brooklyn. The Irish run Brooklyn! I'll be right at home." Though home was a concept she'd always had trouble with. She smiled as he touched her hair, finished off her sandwich, and took his hand. "Where to now?" She wanted to visit Goblin at some point, but she didn't want to disturb him if he was resting. God knew he needed some rest.

"Well...we can get you signed in. Get you a bunk. Script's probably upstairs, if ya wanted to talk to her." He looked at her, rubbing a piece of her hair between his fingers, his thumb brushing across her cheek lightly. "And maybe we could just...hang out." It was a novel concept, hanging out with Footsteps.

She smiled brightly. "Sounds good to me. You're gonna have to do some of the talking, though! I'm full of curiosity," she said teasingly, touching his face lightly. She didn't have a great deal of romantic experience--what with all the traveling, and the Refuge, and being a good Catholic girl--but this was suiting her just fine so far.
She reluctantly turned away from him to go and sign the registration book, wondering what she could possibly say or do for Script.

Once she'd signed in, he led her up the stairs to the girls' bunkroom. "Just to warn you...Script's not really...the same. She's been...kinda moody lately."

"Sure an' it was all hugs and kisses in the Refuge," 'Steps said with a wry smile. She knew how to deal with difficult people. Or she was good at improvising, anyway. She approached the bunkroom and knocked on the door. "Script? It's...it's Footsteps," she called, hoping her sudden appearance wouldn't be too much of a shock.

Cav hung back in the doorway as 'Steps walking into the bunkroom.
Script was laying in bed, playing with Ginger, her cat. She sat up at the familiar voice. "'Steps? Oh, my God, you're here!"

"Thanks to you," she said, smiling gently, "or so the rumors go." She ran to the bed, then hesitated, remembering what Cav said. "Would a hug be too forward?"
