"Then you shoulda came to me. I could have stopped him," Zippy replied, standing on her ground. "Get out or...." She glanced at Tristan. "I'll get him to remove you."

[David]

"I wanted to tell you! He wouldn't let--" David stared at her, then frowned darkly. "You know what. Fine. If it's that fucking easy for you to kick me out, then fine. It's not like I don't know that I want you a whole lot more than you want me, anyway." He grabbed his coat and pushed past her, headed for the front door.

[Zippy]

Eli frowned, looking at Zippy. "Stop him! Don't be ridiculous, you know how I am, I totally manipulated him into doing it! The kid didn't stand a chance- c'mon, Erin!"

She shook her head. "You don't know a thing about the sorts of trouble that happens in New York, Eli. Get a clue or I swear to god, you'll end up dead." She glanced at Tristan.

"Go home to your wife." She told him softly, wanting to thank him but not sure how. She gave him a weak look, her eyes saying thanks.

"You do know that my gang is scarier than Joseph's gang right? I left a little clue as to who killed him," Tristan said with a smirk.

He stood up straight and then stepped over to her. "Cut the kid some slack. Not this idiot," he nodded toward Eli, "he's gonna get himself killed, but David. He's good for you." He smirked and gave her hand a squeeze.

[Zippy]

Zippy wanted to hug him, but knew she shouldn't. She simply nodded. "Please be safe," She told him, thinking of his kids. "Even though you're pretty scary." She smiled at him, her eyes sparkling with the irony.

Eli was about to protest, but instead ran out to catch up with David. "Dave!" He grabbed the guy's arm, catching his breath, his mouth still bleeding. "Don't go, I'll fix this."

Tristan laughed and shook his head. He gently cupped her cheek in his hand, he smiled at her. "I gotta go," he said and then he left.

[David]

David frowned, glaring at him. "Oh, you've done enough, you asshole!"

[Zippy]

Eli looked at David, hurt. "Just...come back, we can reason with her. We both knew she'd be mad once she found out. But he's gone, she's safe now. And in shock. Don't leave her like that."

Zippy watched him go, a familiar tingling inside from his touch, then promptly went to the bathroom and burned the shit out of Joseph tallit in their tub. She collapsed next to the tub as it burned, finally letting the tears fall.

[David]

"You heard her! She doesn't want me there! She didn't kick fucking Tristan out, oh no! Just me!" He was angry and hurt, and tired of Tristan being better than him at everything.

[Zippy]

Eli narrowed his eyes at him. "At least she didn't hit you. I'm going back to her. Do whatever you want." Eli turned and walked back to the apartment, sitting next to Zip in the bathroom.

She cried for a moment before glaring at him. "I hate you," she told him softly, running a hand over her face.

"I hate me, too." Eli replied, sighing. "But you shouldn't hate David."

Zippy shrugged, dipping a tissue into the water and dabbing at Eli's mouth. "He knew better, you didn't."

[David]

David paced the hallway for a while, calming himself down, then sighed and went back into the apartment. He stood awkwardly in the doorway of the bathroom. "Hey..."

[Zippy]

Eli's mouth stopped bleeding and he stood up, quietly leaving the bathroom, giving David a look on the way out.

Zippy rubbed her eyes, tired. "Sorry I threw you out."

[David]

David glanced at Eli, then sighed and moved to sit beside her on the floor. "You do that an awful lot."
