Eli was thinking the same thing, and smiled over at her. He would love to see her on stage like that. At least it would be a more noble, safe, and happy career than the one she was currently in.

The show began, and it turned out to be a love story between a working-class woman and a man from the North who goes to fight in the Civil War.

[Trixie]

It, of course, made Trixie nearly ball her eyes out, and by intermission she was a sniffling mess, head leaning against his shoulder.

[ELI]

Eli was pretty moved from the story as well- intermission left with the solider coming home, wounded from the war, only to see that his leading lady was engaged to marry someone else! It was quite tragic, actually. Eli loved how he found himself lost in the story.

He glanced over at Trixie. "You enjoyin' it, Kitten?"

[Trixie]

She sniffled into her handkerchief, wiping her eyes. "Oh, it's just so sad! She has to pick him in the end, she just has to!"

[ELI]

"I'm sure she will. She thought he was dead though, when the letters stopped coming..." He shook his head. "And her father needs the money. Man, what a dilemma." Eli looked at her, his hands finding her hair and stroking it.

"I can't believe we didn't go see one of these shows sooner."

((SO i got the idea abotu the Civil War thing because I read you and becky's thread with moonshine/rose where he goes to fight in WWI and comes back wounded. SO GOOD! haha i really enjoyed it ))

[Trixie]

((Haha, aww! I loved that thread!! Rose and Moonshine are such the classic American love story. Oh, pretty blonde people.))

Trixie looked up at him, touching his cheek. "Ya know...if you ever had to go off to fight in some war, I'd wait for you. Even if ya stopped writing. I wouldn't believe you were dead, 'til I saw your body with my own eyes. I'd never give up on ya."

Clearly, tragic love stories made Trixie sentimental.

((HAHA. I loved their recent AU too. the one with Tyler as an author. They are so perfect together. in a different way than zippy and davey, but im not sure why ha))

"Why thank you, Sunshine." Eli replied with a smile, kissing her. "Can you sing like her? Like Mary Lynn?"

[Trixie]

((I know! Before she created Rose, I used Tyler a lot with Kathryn, but it definitely wasn't the same. I think our most epic AU thread was the Vietnam one we did. That was a doozy.))

Trixie blushed. "She's a soprano. And an opera soprano, at that. I can't sing like her, never had any real trainin'. I sing a little lower, I think."

((whats it called! I'm going to read it. I'm not as good in AU threads, although I love Kathryn and Leo's Zorro one. ))

Eli smiled. "But you can though. Sing."

[Trixie]

((Oh, I love that one! And it was called Age of Aquarius))

Trixie nodded. "Well, yeah--" then she gave him a suspicious look. "Wait a second...I know that look...you're plannin' somethin'."

[ELI]

"I ain't planning nothin', Kitten," Eli replied, with a smirk. "I just think you oughta be up there. You know. Dancing and singing. You're probably just as good as the woman that plays Mary Lynn. And you are way more beautiful."

[Trixie]

That made her blush again, and she smiled at him. "I dunno. They have open casting calls sometimes, but it's true what they say -- you gotta know somebody."

[ELI]

Eli shrugged, the lights beginning to dim again. He settled back in his seat and took her hand.

[Trixie]

She leaned over at kissed his cheek, whispering an I love you into his ear, then snuggled against him, holding his hand as Act 2 started.

[ELI]

Eli glanced down at her, smiling happily to himself. This private box- it ain't so bad. Maybe one day they can afford it one their own- or get David to buy them some tickets. He chuckled to himself with the thought.
