"Lookin' for the leader of this operation, I guess," he said blandly, lifting a brow at Finn's stance. Inwardly, he wished he'd had the forethought to ask the guy's name back at the park. "I'm Monday."

Finn's ears perked up, recognizing the name.
"He's over there, he's been waiting for you," Finn said, gesturing to Hawk, who was shooting rocks into the river with a sling shot. It may have been Spot's thing, but Hawk had learned from the best, and his skills had come in handy more than once.
"Well hey boss," Hawk greeted with a cocky grin.

Monday stepped past Finn and over toward Hawk, giving the sling shot a mild look. "It's been a couple a' days, I thought I'd check up on ya." He leaned against one of the posts and crossed his arms.

"I found your girl." Hawk shared, aiming his shooter and hitting his target perfectly. "She's a newsie all right."

Monday watched the rock sail through the air and hit its mark. "And you know where she is?" he asked in an even voice. "The boss'll be happy to hear it."

Hawk looked at Monday. "Tell him Hawk Hoffman not only knows where his girl is, but I'm willing to meet with him to discuss further....prospects."

Monday smirked at the corner of his mouth and folded his arms over his chest as he looked back at Hawk. "There's a bar in Queens called the Rooster. I'll tell 'im to expect you."

((this could get dangerous! heh ))
"Tell who?" Hawk demanded, slipping his shot into his back pocket. He crossed his arms over his chest. "I need a name. I gotta check out from my own sources to whom I might actually be getting myself into."

((i love it, it's so fun!! also, apologies for the apparent glut of bird-related names, haha, i kind of just realized it...)) Monday shrugged. "George Priest -- if you ask around, most people just call him The Priest." He flicked his eyes around the dock. "Though I can't say as he does much business in Brooklyn."

((haha! Birdie, Hawk, Rooster- ITS FINE. LOL. btw hawk is crazy))
Hawk glanced at Finn, who's eyes went wide when he heard. Hawk himself had heard of him, but he knew nothing about The Priest's business. "Well maybe The Priest would be happy to have a connection or two in Brooklyn," Hawk offered, with a sly smile. "Does he want the girl delivered, or just the information?"

((i love crazy! Monday is kind of crazy, too. Crazy is so much more fun )) Monday nearly smirked at the change in Finn's expression, but he lifted a shoulder casually. "A connection in Brooklyn couldn't hurt. As for little Baby Birdie, he just wants the information for now. But we might need 'er delivered later on." He pulled out a cigarette, offering the pack around before lighting it. "Unfortunately, she's a little familiar with our faces. Can't get near 'er."

((dont get too attached! I'm pretty sure he's gonna get killed too many people want him dead)) Hawk smirked, accepting one of the cigarettes. A couple of his guys, including Finn and his other close confidant, Lenny, chuckled. "Trust me, snatching her would be pie."

Hawk wasn't fazed. "I'm sure I'll be seeing you soon, Monday," Hawk noted, turning away.
A few days later, Hawk strolled into the Rooster with Finn, Lenny, and three other of his top boys. A few others were keeping watch around the bar.

The main room of the Rooster was crowded and full of smoke, but at the very back, past the bar and a pool table, two men were standing on either side of a door, one smoking and looking bored, the other scanning the room. When the second man spotted strangers, he nodded to the first, who glanced at Hawk and his boys and then turned to disappear into the doorway.
A minute later, Monday emerged, flanked by the first man, Straits, and another, younger one who went by Baz.
"Evenin', Hawk," Monday said when he stopped in front of the Brooklyn boys.
