((no worries!))
Lenny made the exchange, and then glanced at her case. "Is that a violin in there?"

She followed his gaze to the case and bit her lip, giving him a sheepish sort of grin. "Oh, um, yeah. I play in the park in the mornings."

"That's really cool!" Lenny remarked sincerely, and then glanced at Hawk over his shoulder. "Where ya off to now?"

"To Tibby's. They have the best lemon pie," she told him, crinkling her nose with a smile. "Not really the best breakfast, but..."

"Let me join you. I'll buy you a real breakfast, dollface," Lenny offered, shoving both hands in his pockets. "My mother used to play violin..."

Birdie looked a bit confused at his offer. "Well, you can join me, but I couldn't let you pay." She shifted her case and glanced over at him, smiling again despite her increasing feeling of unease. "Your mother played? She doesn't anymore?"

((ohmygosh what if Lenny falls for her?! GASP drama. oh god i couldnt handle any more characters! who is your favorite newsie?))
Lenny nodded. "Well, she's dead, so no..." He was usually one of Hawk's best liars, but he was having trouble at the moment. This girl was so small and sweet, how could she owe the Priest money? "So, Tibby's was it? I'm a visiting newsie from Brooklyn, is it any good there?"

((draaaaama! i love it haha! my fave was totally always specs -- and seriously, characters are totally addictive! i have like a million more i want to play, but i should probably stick to two for a little while )) Birdie lost her smile, furrowing her brow. "Oh...I'm sorry." She put her hand on his arm with a sympathetic frown, then bit her lip and tried to change the subject. "But Tibby's is wonderful." She looked up at him. "Cesare's in Queens is better, but Tibby's is much closer, and it's a close second."

((oh we have a Specs! I have 5 characters, only because I know Hawk is only temporary....sad face))
"Queens, huh? Never been," Lenny replied with a smile, walking with her towards this Tibby's. "What's your name?"

(( poor crazy Hawk)) "I've never been to Brooklyn, either," she told him, smiling brightly. "I'm Birdie. Well, it's actually Beatrice, but no one calls me that."

Lenny smiled at her. He couldn't help it. She was pretty sweet, this one. "Birdie. I'm Lenny. It's a pleasure to meet you." They were in front of Tibby's now. "Shall we?"

She nodded, going inside and looking around for her favorite spot, a booth tucked in the corner by the front window. "So why are you all the way in Manhattan, Lenny? I didn't think Brooklyn newsies came this way very often."

"Visting Central Park," Lenny explained smoothly, taking a seat across from her and reaching for a menu. "I enjoy selling there sometimes."

"Oh," she said, tilting her head. "That's where I go to play." She furrowed her brow as she looked across the table at him, then shrugged. "It's a big park, I suppose. That's why I haven't seen you before." As one of the waitresses came up, she smiled at the woman brightly and asked for a coffee and a slice of pie.

Lenny ordered scrambled eggs, even though he knew he wouldn't be able to eat it. A moment later, Hawk and Finn joined htem at their booth, sitting down without warning. Finn, strong and musuclar, trapping Birdie in, and Hawk next to Lenny.
"Birdie. Ain't you a sight for sore eyes," Hawk greeted, with a smile.
