"No, no, no! That's just how Michael is. He doesn't usually kiss on a first date. His mom raised him up to be this perfect gentleman or whatever," she informed Maggie, starting up her car. She needed to get far away from Tyler.
"Because I'm actually a good guy. And I practice selective make outs," he told Tyler, throwing his keys on the counter and heading into his room to change.

Maggie whimpered. "I feel like an idiot."
Tyler smirked. "But if ya liked her, then you oughta' kiss her."

"Don't!" Rose assured her, pulling out of the parking lot and driving home. "He'll call you, you'll go out again, and he'll kiss you! He just likes to take it slow."
Michael rolled his eyes, changing out of his nice clothes into a t-shirt and his checkered pajama pants. "What're you gonna do about Rose?"

She groaned again. "Slow?? Do you have any idea how long it's been since I've had sex??"
Tyler sighed again, offering Mike a piece of pizza. "Fuck if I know. Figured I'd give her a while to cool down and then I'd call 'er. Ask her out."

"Then just tell him. He appreciates honesty, I know that. Just don't worry about it, okay, Maggie? Trust me." She hung up, letting herself think the rest of the way home.
Michael snorted. "Good luck with that..."

Maggie thought about it a long time, which meant of course that she went to the kitchen and baked three pans of brownies. She was finishing eating one when she finally picked up her phone and called Mike.
Tyler gave him a Look. "Hey, she was the one that kissed me. It's gotta mean somethin'."

Rose woke up the next morning feeling quite disturbed. She'd dreamt about Tyler last night. He had never been the hero in her dreams before. But last night he decided to invade her mind, and Rose didn't like it one bit. She wondered if Tyler would call her.
Michael was reading in bed when his phone rang. He saw it was Maggie, and to be honest was a bit confused. "Hello?"

Tyler waited until the afternoon to finally call. He didn't want to look desperate -- even though he totally was.
Maggie bit her lip. "Hey...it's--it's Maggie...I hope--I mean--I know you're not supposed to call the same night as the date or whatever..."

Rose stared at the phone until the last second. "Yes?"
Michael sat up, putting his book down. "Is...something wrong?"

"Hi, Sugar..." His voice was soft and sounded a little...nervous.
"No, no nothing's wrong. I just...I..." She took a breath. "You didn't kiss me. Not really."

Rose didn't say anything. She just waited for him to say what he needed to say.
"Oh...Well, it was just our first date..." he said, sounding a little nervous and also embarrassed.

Tyler sighed, raking a hand through his hair. "Rose, I ain't playin' no more. You know how much I care about ya. I wanna be with you, Rosie. Just gimme a chance."
Maggie poked at a brownie. "I--I know...I just...I was worried you didn't like me or something..."

"Sorry. I don't feel the same way, and you know that. So please leave me alone." She hung up before he could say anything. He wouldn't leave her alone, though. She knew him well enough by now.
"Maggie, no. I do. I like you. I just...Sorry. I didn't mean to make you think that..." Oh Lordy.

The fact that she hung up on him pissed him off to no end. He didn't leave her alone. In fact, he drove to her apartment and banged on her door.
Maggie burned red, embarrassed beyond belief. "I--sorry. I just--I'll leave you alone. Sorry I called."

"I'm not here!" she cried, sitting on her couch and reading a magazine.
"No, no," he said quickly before she could hang up. "What...what've you been up to?"
