"Is it?" Lana asked. She had never really thought about it before. She had her brother were never very close, and the only reason they were even remotely close these days, she thought, was because they had no other choice.

"I guess. If my brothers were still around, i would consider them my most important," Leo said, with a shrug. "but it's okay. You are not alone, and that's whats important."

Lana shook her head slowly. Up until very recently, she still felt alone even though she had her brother. Now, though, things were different. She sighed, and reached across the table to take his hand. "You're right," she told him, "I am not alone anymore."

Leo blushed, and glanced down, then back at her again. "I do not want us to hide from him, though. You should tell him you spend time with me."

"I will tell him," Lana promised. She nervously let go of his hand and reached up to push the hair out of her eyes. "I do not know how yet, but I will. He will know about you and he will know about my job and he will not be able to take it away from me."

"I hope he decides to be happy for you," Leo said, wiping his face with his napkin, too full now to even stand up. "What are you gonna do with the money you save up?"

"I do not know," Lana admitted with a shrug. "I never really thought about what I would do with my money. I... I guess I could save it for something really nice." She paused."Or save it in case he isn't going to let me be happy with you."
She picked up her glass and slowly finished it. "What do you think?"

Leo shrugged. "I do not know. I save all of my money to pay for vet school if I get in."

"When you get in!" Lana corrected him with a smirk. "I believe that you will, Leo. Because you will."

It was nice to have someone believe in him. "Thank you, Lana." he smiled at her and the waitress brought over the check.
"anything else?"
"no, we are good." Leo paid the check in full.

"Thank you, Leo," Lana smiled, "for dinner, I mean." Slowly, she rose to her feet. Oh, how she hoped he wasn't taking her back home already!

Leo took her hand. "Would you like to join me for a drink? Not at Irving hall," he smiled.

"Of course," Lana nodded. She gave his hand a slight squeeze on their way to the door. Even though she was still worried about having to deal with her brother later on, she was finally starting to feel her tension disappear.

Leo led her down the street, and since it was a mostly hispanic neighborhood, he led her into a Mexican bar. "Most of this neighborhood is filled with Hispanic immigrants like me. I live in Manhattan because it is easier to sell papers though. people here cannot read English."
Leo greeted the bartender, and ordered them margaritas.

"It is different here," Lana observed as she followed him, her eyes darting all over the place, taking in the surroundings. From what she could see, the rest of the city appeared cold and unfriendly. This neighborhood, though, seemed more lively, more welcoming. "Do you like it here better? In this neighborhood?"
