"I will," she promised, opening the door for him. "Now go sulk and pout like you do."

He sighed, waving at her, and left.

Rose couldn't help but smile and shake her head to herself once he'd left. He was so predictable sometimes, it really amused her.
Later that evening, Rose was so bored as she tended the bar. There were hardly any customers, and the ones she did have weren't interesting in the least. She hoped Tyler would come soon.

Tyler finally showed up, still feeling grouchy and sorry for himself as he made his way to the bar.

The second she saw him come through the door, she got out a clean glass and a fresh bottle of whiskey. She poured him a double, even keeping the bottle out in case he wanted to get drunk tonight. She wouldn't be against it.
"Hiya, handsome," Rose said once he sat down. "Come here often?"

He smirked at her, taking the glass and gulping down the liquor. "Not as often as I should."

"I should say not," Rose agreed, ready to pour him some more. "I would look forward to working a lot more if you did."

He smirked. "So, barkeep. How 'bout ya dish out some advice for a lowly patron, huh?" He took another drink.

"Well, it would be my pleasure. What kind of advice are you lookin' for?"

"Well, see, there's this girl." He drank down the whiskey, waving at her to refill his glass. "And I love this girl. So much I wanna marry her. But I don't think she wants to marry me."

She frowned as she refilled his glass half-way, only glancing up at him. "Well, of course she wants to marry you," she replied confidently. "Maybe she's not ready right now."

"But she said she was! She said yes when I asked her!"

"Well...maybe she talked to someone who has more life experience. Maybe she thought that person might know a thing or two about life, since that person has lived a lot more of it than this girl you're talking about." Rose shrugged, though her heart was beating pretty quickly.

He looked down, frowning at the counter top. "Well, I feel like she lied to me."

"Well, I'm sure she wishes you didn't feel like that. Because I'm sure she didn't mean to make you feel like that. And I really think this girl, whoever she is, was really truly happy for the first time in her life this morning. And I think she also gathered up a lot of courage to tell you some things that maybe she hadn't ever wanted to tell you before. So..." Again, Rose shrugged, and she was no longer looking him in the eyes.
