That made her upset, and she pulled away from him, throwing on her shift, getting out of bed. "You're being a drunk jerk. Go to sleep."

Eli awoke in the middle of the night to drink water. He carried Trixie back to bed, careful not to wake her, and fell back asleep holding her.

She instinctively curled into his embrace, snuggling against him as she slept. She loved him too much to stay mad at him for long.
