The midwife gave him a smile, though she was inwardly rolling her eyes. First time parents were the worst.
Trixie clutched Eli's hand, crying out a little as another contraction -- harder than the others -- hit.

Natalie nodded, whimpering a little. "Don't leave me, Eli. No matter what that lady says, don't leave me."
The midwife just rolled her eyes, propping Trixie's legs up to get a look at her. "We still have a while yet. No sense in getting worked up."

She set the glass down on the nightstand, then whimpered through another contraction. "Why is this taking so long??" The midwife patted her knee. "The first ones always take time, dear." |

Trixie groaned, then cried out as she squeezed his hand through another contraction. "I just want it outta me!"

Trixie nodded, pouting. "Sit with me? Lemme lay on you?"

He'd jump off the Brooklyn bridge if she'd ask him to at that moment. He crawled into bed with her, rubbing her neck from behind.

She smiled, she liked when he told her stories like this. "Am I the beautiful princess?" She put a hand to her belly, rubbing it gently, trying to bare down through the pain and uncomfortable feelings.

Eli grinned. "Maybe. If not she looks an awful lot like you." he kissed her cheek. "So anyway, this beautiful Princess decides she wants to go on an excellent adventure, so she goes to the sexy stable boy and asks him to take her on a tour of the kingdom."
