Trixie breathed out, "A boy...Duncan..." She held her arms out as the midwife came back from cleaning him off, wrapping him in a nursing blanket and nestling him in Trixie's arms. "Eli...oh, Eli..." He had warm brown hair, only a shade lighter than Eli's.

"He's beautiful. Little Duncan Green. It's perfect, isn't it?" He softly touched Duncan's head.

The midwife helped Trixie get Duncan to suckle at her breast, then smiled at them and took her leave, leaving them alone.
Trixie watched Duncan breastfeed, in complete awe that this perfect, little thing had come from her. "Eli, he's perfect."

"Yeah he is," Eli agreed, kidding her forehead and getting up to show the midwife out, giving her some money. He was back in a flash, giving Trixie a glass of water.

She took it, holding it with one hand and drinking, as she cradled Duncan against her with the other arm. She handed him the glass back, then smiled down at the baby. He was making little humming sounds as he fed. "Maybe he'll be a singer."

She smiled at him. "Of course you can...Daddy." She gave him a soft look, helping to shift Duncan onto his shoulder. "Rub his back a bit, to burp him."

Eli had no idea how on earth Trixie knew to do that, but he did what he was told, rubbing Duncan's back until he burped.
"wow," he said softly, smiling down at him. He kissed his head.

Trixie giggled, watching him. "Even his burps are cute." She leaned against Eli's shoulder, touching Duncan's hair. "He looks like you, Eli. He'll be just like you."
