Tyler almost growled but pushed past Jackson and followed Rose inside.
"Well, there you are. 'Bought time you came down off that tree and ate somethin'!" Mary Anne was at the stove, making more bacon.

That made Tyle grin as he moved to kiss his mother's cheek. "Sorry, Mama. Smells good." He went back to Rose, pulling a chair out for her at the table before sitting down.
Mary Anne smiled and sent Rose a wink as she served them both.

A light blush appeared on Rose's cheeks, but she didn't let her embarrassment deter her from shoving food into her mouth. She was starving, after all.

Tyler grinned, smothering his biscuits in sausage gravy. "I'm thinkin a' takin' Rose out to the lake today. Take the boat out."
"Oh, it's a good day for it! I'll make ya'll a picnic."
