Kennedy took a guarded step away from Tristan.
"Spot gave it to me!" she said strongly. "Only if he says to give you the key will I give you the key."

Spot held a hand up to his head. "I have a headache." he took a seat on the barstool.
"Where IS Freddy?"

"Over there," Kennedy observed. ...Without Sapphy. But... Kennedy had saw them getting "acquainted."
A look of panic went across her face.

"Kennedy, be honest with me...Do you think you can run Brooklyn without getting yourself killed?" Tristan asked her seriously.

Kennedy wasn't listening to Tristan, she drifted over to Freddy.
"Pretty Freddy," she addressed him. "Weren't you with Sapphy?"
"Yeah, but then Race completely cockblocked me."
"Hmm, that does sound like a thing Race would do."

Tristan felt like punching something or someone. Why was everything always a fucking mess all the time?
"Spot get up!"

Freddy heard Tristan yell and came to help Spot up. Spot looked at him and grasped his shoulder tightly, affectionately patting it.
"You're my favorite, yknow that!" He said to Freddy, and then glared at Tristan.
"He's a mess, I'll take him back," Freddy offered, frowning at Tristan. "I don't get it, Kennedy is the new leader?"
"YA WHERE WERE YOU!" Spot interjected, taking a step back.
"Spot, you specifically told me to leave you alone."

Race, who had sat down to polish off his drink, which was somehow exactly where he left it, actually found that his spirits were considerably improved by being surrounded by insane Brooklynites. It was just like old times.
"Hey, Spot, can I stay in Brooklyn tonight because Sapphy's long-lost brother just showed up, and I think he hates me, and I can't deal with it right now, and I'm pretty sure you're too drunk to say no?"

Somehow, depressed and miserable drunk Spot turned into a much more lighthearted, completely blacked-out drunk Spot.
"Racetrack Higgins. One of my oldest friends. You have to ask KENNEDY, not me." He bursted out laughing and nearly fell over again, but Freddy grabbed him.

"Wait, did you say Kevin's back?" Kennedy exclaimed, now at ease over her Sapphy worries. "Aw, I love him!"

Race blinked at her. "Really? What do you love about him, exactly?" He flashed her a bright smile. "Also, mind if I stay in Brooklyn tonight, m'lady?"

"Of course you can, Race! You're one of us! And Kevin? He's, like, the nicest boy I've ever met."

"He wasn't nice to me," Race grumbled, and looked from Spot to Tristan to Freddy. "How did Kennedy come to be leader of Brooklyn again?"

"No one else wanted it," Spot grumbled, rubbing his eyes.
"Spot, this does not mean you give it to just anybody," Freddy lectured. Sure, being the brooklyn leader was no picnic, and Freddy liked much better serving the leader, but he would step up if he had to.
