"Mein theek hoon, shukriya," Macbeth chanted playfully in response to Mikey's babbling. She took a wicked satisfaction in being able to say whatever she wanted to him in Hindi and ignore the roomful of people. She hated rooms full of people, even when they didn't contain Tristan.
And like Sapphy, Race thought, wondering how he'd failed to meet Nevada when he lived in Brooklyn, considering his lifelong obsession with ginger girls. He looked from Jo to Lucy. "No one'll ever believe they're sisters...'cept the eyes."
Jo, quite unexpectly, squirmed in Tristan's arms and reached out for Nevada.

"So strange right? How completely different they look?" He said to Race and of course passed Jo to Nevada. He shrugged.
Mikey clapped his hands and mumbled something incoherant, the words were hard for him to say, but he was happy Macbeth was saying them.

Nevada hesitantly took Jo. This isn't her fault, Nevada reminded herself and smiled at Jo. 'hello my dear,' Nevada said, smiling and rubbing her nose against the side of Jo's face. 'yes, it appears as if all the Shamien children are blessed with the same eyes.' Nevada said to Race

"Lucky kids huh?" Tristan said with a smirk and took Lucy from Nevada so that nobody was juggling too many babies at once.

"You're a good kid," Beth informed Mikey, speaking English at last. "I oughta introduce you to Shakespeare."
"We oughta introduce him to poker," Race argued without even turning around.
"Shakespeare won't get him soaked in dark alleys," Macbeth snapped.
"If you're gonna throw something at me again, please make sure it ain't a baby," Race replied patiently. He grinned at the sight of Nevada holding the two little girls. "See? This is all gonna work out fine."
((Race is such an optimist, haha.))

Tristan started laughing, "I think we're doing pretty good at the moment...just wait until dinner." He smirked.
"You can teach him anything you want," He actually wanted her too, Tristan had never so much as finished a book let alone attempted Shakespeare. He had grown up totally on the street and never needed books, though he was grateful he could at least manage to read.

So they were staying for dinner. Great. Nevada thought bitterly. Nevada smiled at Jo and took a seat, 'you're beautiful you know that?' Nevada said to her

Tristan sat down beside his wife and smiled at Jo. "She is right?" He could feel Lucy squirming in his arm and gave her a little bounce, she settled down then and smiled.

"She knows," said Macbeth softly--the first words she'd said to Nevada. She stroked Mikey's blond hair and gazed up at the ceiling, praying to heathen gods for the strength to get through this. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Jo snuggle happily against Nevada and couldn't suppress a surge of jealousy.
Race caught the mention of dinner, looked at Nevada, and said the most diplomatic thing you could say to an overwhelmed housewife--"Want me to cook something?"

((they are such a weird little family LOL))
"You know, if Race cooks as good as Rae..." Tristan glanced at Nevada and then kissed her cheek.
Mikey smiled at her and rested his head against her shoulder, his thumb immediately went to his mouth.

'please,' Nevada said thankfully to Race. She could kiss that man she was so happy.
She looked down as Jo was snuggling close to her and wrapped her arms around her, bringing her closer to her chest.

"Great!" Race looked from Macbeth to Tristan and Nevada. "Don't hurt each other, all right?" He disappeared into the kitchen, not knowing exactly what ingredients the Shamiens had, but figuring an Italian could work with anything.
Jo's eyelids fluttered shut, and the warmth of Nevada and Lucy snuggled so close to her lulled her into a light sleep.
Macbeth just sat there with Mikey in her lap as the room lapsed into the most awkward silence ever.

Mikey chose at that moment to try and mimic what Macbeth had been teaching him, he clapped his hands as he did. "ME THE HOO SHUUUU!"
Tristan laughed, he boy sounded so confident and it sounded nothing like what Macbeth had been saying. "What is that anyway? I know it ain't jibberish."

'better not have put a spell on my son,' Nevada muttered sarcastically over the top of Jo's head

Macbeth rolled her eyes. "It's Hindi," she said stiffly. "Folks speak it in India. Where my mother was from."
The clanking of pots and pans in the kitchen suggested that Race had decided on what to make.
