Macbeth stood back and scowled, cradling Jo against her shoulder, while Racetrack cheerfully knocked on the Shamiens' door. He hadn't seen Tristan in ages and had never even met his kids. And he still hadn't gotten over the whole Macbeth's-niece-is-Tristan's-daughter thing. She'd had to explain it to him three or four times.
Beth, meanwhile, wished with all her heart that she could've brought Risk or Ershey, but she didn't want to get them into any more trouble than she had already. Besides, Race was friends with Tristan, and incredibly even-tempered, and could possibly keep everyone from killing each other.

Tristan heard the knock on the door and got up to open it. Mikey toddling at his heels as he did so. As he opened the door, Tristan grabbed Mikey with one arm and lifted him off the ground.
"Hey," He said to his guests and then smiled when he saw Race. "Race! What're you doing here?" He lifted Mikey up higher and set him down on his hip.
"HI!" Mikey yelled and waved.

"Macbeth asked me to come...something about how she wanted to avoid actually talking to you?" Race raised an eyebrow and looked back at his companion. "Are you really not gonna talk at all?"
"I think it's for the best," Macbeth said coolly.
Race shrugged and grinned. "Also, I been meaning to visit. Are Nevada and Lucy home?"
"DUCKS!" said Jo, reaching for Tristan.

Nevada heard her name and held Lucy close to her as she appeared in the living room.
'hello.' Nevada said simply, wishing she could get this done and over with.

"Hey," Race said warmly.
"HI!" Jo said, and stopped grabbing at Tristan to look at Nevada curiously. Her eyes finally settled on Mikey, and she flashed him a rather devious smile.
Macbeth just nodded at Nevada, eyes still narrowed.

Nevada frowned at Macbeth's behavior, 'what the fuck is your problem?' Nevada asked defensively, holding Lucy closer to her.

Tristan scooped Jo out of Macbeth's arm with his other hand.
"We'll probably talk to each other as little as possible," Tristan agreed and then let everyone inside. He kicked the door shut.
"Macbeth, that's my wife Nevada." He set Mikey down on the floor. Mikey toddled over to Race and pulled on his pantleg.
"Hi."
Tristan shot Nevada a look, "Like I said probably not talking is a good idea." He walked over to Nevada, bringing Jo to inspect Lucy.
"Jo this is your sister, Lucy."

"Hey there, Mikey," Race said with a grin, sitting in the nearest chair and lifting the kid onto his knee. "I hear you got a new big sister."
Macbeth ignored Nevada and hovered by Tristan's elbow, keeping an eye on Jo, who looked down at Lucy with wide blue eyes full of wonder. She reached for the baby and touched her on the cheek very gently, then looked up at Nevada as if to ask her who or what this mysterious little creature might be.

"You know my apartment is five rooms, there is nowhere that I can hide her and the windows are locked," Tristan said to Macbeth as he watched Jo interact with Lucy.
Lucy of course blinked up at Jo and then smiled when she touched her cheek. She lifted her hand.
Mikey of course smiled widely at Race and then slapped his hand. He laughed. "Hi!"

Beth glared but reluctantly backed off, sitting on the arm of Race's chair. She gave Mikey a faint hint of a smile. "Hey there, kid. Jo didn't bring no bread crumbs today, I swear."
"Have they met Sean yet?" Race asked Tristan. "'Cause I can already see him and this little guy taking over the known universe."
"Jo'd win it back from them in a heartbeat," Macbeth snapped. Race chuckled and wondered how the hell he had gotten in the middle of a giant baby war.
Jo was lightly exploring Lucy's hand with the tip of her finger. It seemed like a protective big-sister instinct had already kicked in.

Nevada didn't appreciate being ignored by the stranger in her house. Especially when this stranger was getting money from her husband to care for Jo. She looked over at Tristan, jaw clenched tight. Oh he owed her.

Tristan knew he owed his wife, he owed her big time and he was already thinking of how to pay her back.
"Course they've mean Sean Conlon, come on." Tristan said with a smirk. "The two of them are gonna be big trouble, Jo right beside 'em."
Mikey leaned over to grab Macbeth's hand and smiled up at her. He had forgiven Jo of course, but was thankful he was a little bit away from her so he didn't get slapped. "Kay!"
Lucy giggled as Jo touched her hand, then she pulled it back and stuck it into her mouth, still smiling.

Macbeth looked down in bemusement at the little boy holding her hand. She was completely comfortable with Jo, but not exactly with children in general. So she did the only thing she could think of and kissed his hand solemnly like a lady at court. "Shubh sundhyaa," she said, figuring the funny-sounding words might entertain him even if he couldn't understand.
Race shook his head. "Gotta say, Tris, I'm gonna stick to baby-sitting for a few years. I can handle one of these guys for a while, but not three or four of 'em." He noticed Nevada was being neglected and got up to remedy that, leaving Mikey with Macbeth. "Gorgeous little girl you got there. Love the red hair," he said with a smile.
Jo loved it too. She ran her hand through Lucy's hair and smiled. "Red!"
((She's totally gonna be BFFs with Lucy and mortal enemies with Mikey.))

Nevadas stony demeanor cracked at Race's words. 'yes....well we can't do much about her hair, at least if we ever lose her in the crowd she will be easy to find.' Nevada said chuckling.

((Of course she is, until her little brother rescues her from serious trouble one day...oh man it will be classic))
Mikey smiled at Macbeth and started babbling back at her, bobbing his head from side to side, it sounded like a song to him.
"They're a handful sometimes," Tristan admitted, "but I'm used to it now I guess." He shrugged and watched Jo with Lucy.
"Yeah she's got red hair, like her mama," Tristan said and smiled at Nevada, he knew he had to thank her later. That this was the furthest from what she wanted.
Lucy yawned, letting her thumb stay in her mouth as Jo petted her head.
