((HAHAH Oh man, so awesome))
Raven nodded at Macbeth and then glared at the midwife, she decided to direct all her anger and frustration at her. She felt a contraction coming and knew that this time she had to push. She grabbed hold of the rag Macbeth had tied to bedpost and pushed hard, gritting her teeth.

Race smirked; his distraction technique had succeeded. If Spot was thinking about shoving him off the roof, at least he wasn't worrying about Rae. "'Cause she was new and we hit it off, and she wanted to hear all about Spot Conlon and his daring exploits at the age of seven. How could I not mention the teddy bear? And then she wanted to see it. She can be real persuasive, y'know."

Macbeth stood beside the midwife, ignoring her, still resting a comforting hand on Raven's arm as she waited for the baby to emerge...and prayed with all her heart that it would come easy, that she'd see a head instead of feet.

Spot glared at him more, 'well shit I'm sure glad you're so trustworthy,' he said dryly.
((ooo Race is one sneaky bastard trying to distract him and such))

Raven pushed as hard as she could and then took a deep breath and pushed again. This time she screamed but she knew she was making progress.
"That's it, you're doing just fine," The midwife said urging her on, she could see the top of the baby's head.
Raven collapsed against the bed taking deep gulping breaths.
"You're almost there..." The midwife looked at Macbeth. "Some water, she can take two minutes to get some strength." "
"You're almost done." She said to Rae.

Beth nodded, not even arguing at this point, and dashed to the kitchen for a glass of water. She handed it to Rae, then went to get the pot off the stove. By the time they got the baby out, it would be cool enough to wash him in--and Rae, and the sheets, and everything else in sight.

"Yup," Race said cheerfully, "I'm a terrible friend. Hey, at least I confessed. Y'know, we should go back to the lodging house sometime, see if there's anything else under that loose floorboard now. And if all the kids have killed each other since you left." From the faint sounds coming from the bedroom, he thought maybe things were coming to a boil, and he didn't want Spot noticing and freaking out.

After she took a sip of water Rae was ready to push again as she did, she pushed as hard as she could physically manage.
"One more!" The midwife urged her on and then glanced at Macbeth, making sure she was ready.
Raven pushed again and closed her eyes tight. She collapsed back against the sheet panting and opened her eyes.
The midwife was holding a very tiny baby who wasn't doing anything, moving or crying or anything. She was going to panic until he immediately began crying at the top of his lungs.

Spot could hear the screaming and he clenched his hands into fists, the cigarette hanging loosely from his lips.
'ya...sure,' he said distractedly, starting to pace, when he realized he couldn't take this uncertainty anymore he made a beeline for the fire escape, 'I'm going back down there,' he said, trying to get past Race.

Macbeth let out a ragged breath when the baby finally wailed. She soaked the towel, lathered the sponge with soap, and reached for the baby, gently cleaning and drying him all over, which only made him scream louder. She wrapped him in the towel, squeezed Raven's hand, and grinned at the midwife. "You wanna say it, or should I?"

Race pushed Spot back. "No, you ain't! You wanna distract her right when she's trying to push or something?"
Then he heard a sound that was unmistakably the wail of a baby, forgot everything else, and scrambled back down to the fire escape himself, pounding on the window a couple times in the desperate hope that someone would pull the shade up.

"By all means, you can tell her," The midwife said with a huge smile. Raven was looking between them, "What? Don't tell me my child is deformed..." she was still on edge and wanted to hold the baby immediately. She was trying to peek over Macbeth to see it. ((It's totally a boy )

((Hehe, I know))
"It's a boy," Macbeth said dramatically, placing the little wailing bundle in his mother's arms. A healthy boy, and you ain't dead. Her joy was a little bittersweet when she thought of Ada, but it was still joy, which wasn't an emotion she experienced very often. "Want me to call Spot in? And, uh...Racetrack?" She could swear she'd glimpsed both of them outside the window. "And then we gotta get you cleaned up."

Spot ran after Race, pulling him away from the window, 'I'm pretty sure I should see the baby before you,' Spot said warningly.

"Fine," Race grumbled, waiting impatiently by the window as the shade suddenly flew up. "How's it look? How's Rae look? Can we go in yet?"
