The Letter -- open!

[Pie]

"Hmm, but the narrator is outside the story, not in it," Pie protested, smiling. "Surely you're a character, at least."

[Fae]

"Not in Jacks... maybe I'm the fortune teller that is rarely ever wrong?" She wasn't always a character, she liked to tell stories-- but she did like to live her own.

[Pie]

"You two are pretty close, though. That warrants a better character than the fortune teller." Pie picked up the corner of her scarf and played with the tassels on it. "Aladdin doesn't have a plucky-but-wise sidekick?"

[Fae]

"Plucky?" she asked with a chuckle and tilted her head to the side. "Not really.. but there's always room for more. Old stories are made to be retold again an' again, sometimes you can stretch it... it's about the meanin at the heart of the story. In Aladdin's its that you don't need to pretend to be somethin' yer not if it's true love."

[Pie]

"Well, if it's a story about people bein' lovesick, it's definitely one for Jack," he said, chuckling. He sat forward again and lifted an eyebrow. "What about me, then? What story am I?"

[Fae]

She looked over at him for a long moment, trying to decide-- then she gave him a smile. "You make yer own Niko. There's never been a tale to follow you around..." She could have thought awhile longer, but she didn't want too. She liked that he had his own story, no parallels. He was Niko-- and he gave the storyteller butterflies sometimes. More often than she'd admit.

[Pie]

Pie was a little disappointed. He lifted his brows again and crossed his arms over his chest. "Aww, Molly, come on. You have a story for Jack, you don't have one for me?"

[Fae]

She turned a bit more and leaned forward, her face not far from his-- "Ya remind me of a Knight most a the time, Niko--- bound ta defend his home an his because it was his duty. Bound an' determined ta make it though he'd be happy if it was someone elses responsibility. Yer honor... Niko, that's everythin.. makes you better than a lot a men in a lot a stories."

[Pie]

Pie widened his eyes. A knight? He laughed and shook his head. "Never heard of a knight who earns his keep by beating up drunks in jousting matches, have you?" Though it surprised him how much it made his stomach warm to think that Fae thought so highly of him.

A knight. He wished he didn't like that idea so much.

[Fae]

"Not all knights have ta be ridin' chargers," she replied with a smile. "And not all dragons have scales-- some wear smart suits an' talk big with deep pockets.." She did think highly of him, almost thought the world of him actually. He was honorable, and yes he beat up drunks in the park but...

[Pie]

He spread his hands in defeat, though he was grinning broadly. "All right, then. If I'm a knight, what're you? What kind of story would you be, Molly?"

[Fae]

She thought about it for a moment, tilting her head-- she always put herself as a minor character really. She was never the main character in any story, her eyes raised to his and she tilted her head. "How 'bout-- you tell me what kind of story I am?"

[Pie]

He sat forward and tucked his chin into his hand, scrutinizing her. He smirked. "Nah, it's too easy. You tell me what you think you are, then I'll tell you if you're right or not."

[Fae]

She let her mouth drop and she sighed, tilting her head, "I'm just the side character-- you know the... " How did she put it. "The princess wise maid or... the talking rabbit.."

[Pie]

"The talking rabbit?" Pie repeated, laughing. "Molly, you're a main character. You can do better than that."
