That kind of affection made her smile as she leaned into him, letting her eyes close for the moment in time. She didn't want to forget a night like this, be something she'd tell about some day. But not when it was so close and so special...

After a few moments of silence, Pie sighed and glanced down at her, keeping his arm about her shoulders. "Suppose we should go in soon." He didn't want to, but it was late, and they were both too broke to skip out of selling in the morning.

She nodded and sighed, "Aye... I'll go sell in the park in the mornin.. have a story ta finish." That's how she made most of her money, not even the paper-- but the stories she told trying to get people to buy them. She always got more coin that way.

"I have a few fights in the afternoon. Maybe if you're still around the park, we can go to Tibby's and look sad so they'll feed us a free lunch." Pie winked down at her.

She chuckled and nodded, shifting to press a kiss to his cheek. "Don' let them bash yer face up too much, lad. I'll be round.. that's me spot. Jack doesn' like sellin' anywhere near me anymore."

She tossed her hair over her shoulder and laughed, "I can' help it if I'm tellin' a grand adventure an' he stops too close."

"Poor Jack," he laughed. "He's been very distracted lately, and you're just takin' advantage of that."

"He made a complete fool of himself at Irving Hall the other night." Pie chuckled, remembering.

"I missed it? Tell me what happened!" She and Jack were more like siblings than friends sometimes.

Pie laughed as he looked up at the sky. "Got himself pissed drunk just so he could work up the nerve to ask that poor little girl if he could walk her home. It's a wonder they made it back to the lodging house, the way he was wobblin'."

She covered her mouth with her hands and giggled, "Oh no... no... poor Birdie. Oh Jack Jack ya sod.." She couldn't help it, the visual alone was enough to make her laugh.

Her giggling made him laugh harder. "He was lucky that little thing liked him so much. Most girls would've slapped him sideways." In truth, though it had been funny to watch, Pie had been a little jealous of Jack -- willing to throw caution to the wind for a chance. But that was Cowboy, through and through.

Fae chuckled and shook her head, "Nah... depends on what he said. She told me she loved him an' that's more'n enough fer me. Long as they're both happy s'all that matters." She knew Jack could manage things no one else could, it was one reason she loved the man so much. Was like a brother, family true as she had when she was small.
