As Cosmo got to his feet, Pie hooked an arm around his neck and half-dragged him to the door. "Go on, you moron," he growled at his little brother, then turned back to Fae. This wasn't the place for thanks, but he was truly grateful. She'd handled the situation beautifully.
"A pleasure doin' business with you, girlie," Johnny with the thick eyebrows said, tipping his hat with a gap-toothed grin. "And you keep a better eye on that boyo," he added to Pie, nodding at Cosmo.

Fae smiled giving the men a nod as a sign of respect, ready to go she snapped her finger and spun back around. "the answer to the riddle. Almost forgot. It's your word. Thank ya lads for giving and keepin it."

"Your word! Ha!" Johnny laughed, and Mick grimaced. He waved the lot of them out, then leaned over and clapped Mick on the back with a good-natured grin.
Pie hurriedly shoved Cosmo out into the store front, then turned to make sure Fae was behind him. He gave a small nod to the man at the counter, then walked quickly to the door and nudged his brother out onto the street.

Once they were out of the store and onto the street, Fae took off her hate and swatted Cosmo on the head with it before putting it back on her own. "Are ya bloody daft!?" god Pie couldn't keep bailing him out that was all the money he had--- not to mention not every single goon would want to try their hand at a riddle. And she wouldn't be with Pie every time, she knew he didn't want her going to start....

"You idiot!" Pie added for good measure, smacking Cosmo in the back of the head with his hand.
"Ow!" Cosmo cried as he ducked away from first Fae and then Pie. "What was that for?"

"Ya realize if they hadn'a taken me wager an' they'd been able ta figure it out-- Pie an' I both woulda starved for the next couple weeks? Ya bloody daft fool!" She folded her arms, temper was rare for Fae but his stupidity was grating.

"You would not have starved!" Cosmo answered with a grin, though no one was smiling back at him. "Anyway, they did take your wager, and they didn't figure it out, so it's all right!"
"Cos," Pie started with a sigh, irritated at him. "Go home to Ma and Pa, and stop makin' so much damn trouble."

She looked up at Pie and her face contorted, was he serious? She knew where his money went and how much he used to feed himself before she glanced back at Cosmo. "Unlike you I don' have a mum an' Da ta feed me when I've got no coin ta do so.."

"Cos, apologize to Fae and go home. You cost me my meals for a week, and you nearly did the same to her," Pie growled.

"He's bloody queer and daffy," she replied looking up at Pie, she was going to help him eat best she could. After all he was doing it for family loyalty. "Stay outta trouble..." Or she'd just let him get his fingers wacked off next time.

"I'm sorry," Cosmo told Fae, giving her a bright smile, not even fazed by her declaration that he was daffy and queer.
"And next time you do something stupid, make Anna clean up your mess. I'm tired of it." Pie glared at his younger brother and shooed him off. Cosmo laughed, gave a wave, and turned to run off in the opposite direction toward home.

Fae let out a breath once the kid was gone and ran her hand through her hair, taking her hat off of her head with the other hand and sighing. It was idiotic, "You alright?" she asked tilting her head to look up at him.

Pie looked down at her, giving her a half-hearted shrug. "My brother's a moron. I'm sorry you got dragged into it, Fae." And he couldn't even make it up to her -- damn Cosmo had wiped him out of all his spare money.

Grudgingly, he laughed and nodded. "Just a few days of eatin' light. I can take up a few extra bouts in the park so it won't just be crackers and weak beer from Tibby's."
