She looked over her shoulder and looked at hte two men, how much did he just give them? God that was enough to eat for a week or so. She didn't let go of his neckerchief either. "Member what I said 'bout you bein' my family-- means I help." Though she wasn't about to fish out her money just yet. As a story teller-- she knew that a climax was coming-- things like these were never easy.

As the larger man took the wad of cash and flipped through it, Pie tried to twist out of Fae's grasp.
"Did I say thirty?" the man growled with a slow, dangerous smirk. Pie had just pegged himself as a means of getting more money. "I meant fifty."
"I don't have fifty, you moron," Pie said back, still awkwardly bent so Fae could whisper to him.

She let him go, tiny as she was she had a strong solid grip, turning around and offering a smile,. "How 'bout a wager... " she asked, raising her finger. "Interested?"

These were, of course, gambling men by nature, even if they'd somehow gotten stuck watching Cosmo. "What kind of a wager?" the one with the bushy eyebrows asked.
Pie straightened, worried about the direction this was headed.

"I bet that I can tell you a riddle ya won't know the answer too.... if I win, then the idget goes free with what ya already been paid. If I lose, we give ya fifty an' part as friends. If the lad bothers ya again that's his own problem..." She figured she measured their intelligence level enough that she could just work with what she knew-- and if Cos got back in with them he was fair game. "There'll be no more a this... what ya say ta that game?" Her brow raised it really was a gamble, they had no idea to know if she was going to ask them and riddles were sometimes more obvious than they let on. People over-complicated them.

The one with the bushy brows let out a bark of a laugh. "Anything a girlie says is a riddle to ole Mick here," he boomed, jerking a thumb at the other man, who growled at him. Cosmo, the idiot that he was, laughed as well, as if they were all hanging out as friends. Pie glared at him.

Ole Mick hesitated, clearly distrusting Fae and her wager, but the other man laughed again and clapped the reluctant thug on the back. "C'mon now, Mickie, let the girlie have her fun! Let's do it, then, little'un." He said to her
Pie frowned and leaned toward Fae. "Are you sure you know what you're doing?" he whispered to her.

"Alright lads, ya only got one try-- one guess for the both and you can't take more'n five minutes..." she looked over at Pie when he whispered and met his eyes, "Can ya trust me." she asked. Her eyes shifted back to the men, "If ya canna figure it out we all part as friends an' go on our merry, is it a wager then?"

Pie frowned and folded his arms over his chest, looking around the room to see how they could escape if this wager didn't go as planned.
"Let's hear your riddle, girlie," the first man told her, and Mick gave a grunt of acceptance.

The girl nodded, "I'm two words. In order to keep me, you must give me. What am I?"

The two thugs looked positively stumped. The man with the bushy eyebrows took a heavy seat on an overturned crate, frowning as he thought, while Mick crossed his arms and scowled at Fae and Pie.
Cosmo, in his corner, laughed and sat forward with his elbows on his knees. "'In order to keep me, you must give me...' That's a stumper, isn't it?"

"Got an answer for me lads?" She looked over at Cosmo and then up at Pie, before she looked at Cosmo again. "Ya bet keep yer mouth shut lad, case we're so inclined ta let the lads have ya... winner of the game or not."

Cosmo innocently put his hands up, grinning broadly at Fae. Pie simply rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to the two men. "Well? Do you give up?" he asked them.
The bigger one shook his head, happy enough to be bested by a tiny little girl with faraway eyes. Mick, however, pursed his lips, but he too had no answer for her. "We give up. C'mon, then, Johnny, we've got our money from 'em anyway."

Fae decided to ignore cosmo though she smiled at the two men, motioning for the idiot teen to come along before the men changed their minds. "did well lads." She hoped she didn't see them again. Really.
