She propped her chin on her hand and laughed, grinning at him before she shrugged her shoulders. "Never judge a book by it's cover there, Pie. It only means ya underestimate people, I might be just a storyteller but I grew up in the points, I can handle meself."

"I guess I got enough brawn for the two of us," he conceded, then reached out and tweaked her nose before he got to his feet. "Still, I can take care of it on my own. Wouldn't want you to miss your first piece of baklava."

"It'll keep," she replied as she got up, grabbing her hat and shoving her hair under it. No, she still looked very much like a girl though a young one as she moved her baklava and hid it in a drawer. All she could do was grin. "I'm goin.. yer just gonna have ta get used to it."

"Suit yourself, little girl," he said. He picked up his coat from the back of the chair and shrugged it on, then started toward the door. "Come on, then, before I change my mind."

She gave him a bright smile and followed-- stepping outside and shoving her hands into her pockets. "I'm not that little ya know.." well okay she was really little, and the unyielding optimism was something else as far as things like that went. She seemed to be comfortable with this, not bothering to hide a smile. He may have had enough brawn for both of them but she had the brains to match.

As they walked up the street, Pie glanced over at her with an eyebrow up. "So you don't have any family, Fae? Nobody at all?"

She looked over at him and then shook her head, "I lost my family back in Ireland.. moved here with my Gran.. she passed away two years back." She was totally alone and somehow she managed to still smile most of the time.

"I'm sorry," he said a little awkwardly. There were quite a few newsies who were on their own -- Pie was one of the rarer ones, with a whole brood of brothers, a sister, and parents to smother him with affection and nagging. "You've done good for yourself on your own, though."

She chuckled and shrugged her shoulders, "They're not really gone ya know-- still right here.." Fae tapped the space over her heart. "Carry 'em with me always. Tell their stories much as I tell any other.." There were a lot that were on their own, not as many of them managed to look at th bright side of the dirty life they lived.

Pie nodded slowly as they walked, tucking his hands in his pockets. "Well, if you're ever feeling deprived of nagging and fussing, you're welcome to my family," he said, giving her a smirk. "Ma acts like everybody's her kid, even if she's never met 'em before."

Fae grinned and then chuckled, adjusting her floppy hat more on her head. "'s good ta have a mum like that. My gran was the same... always givin the lads in the area a good scoldin if they needed it an' hugs none a them got really." She missed the woman, it was clear by how her face changed a bit when she talked about her. "She was amazin... she was a better storyteller than me." Taught Fae how to weave a tale, that her imagination was the greatest thing she had, and how sometimes you just need a story to get your point across.

"Sounds like an impressive woman," Pie said. He gave her a small smile. "You must miss her a lot."

"All the time.." she replied with a shrug before giving him a smile. "But she'd be sore at me if I dwelled on her not bein' here.."

"Sounds to me like you're rememberin' the good parts, not lingering on her absence. I don't think she'd be sore at you at all." He patted her on her head, making the hat sink lower on her forehead, then came to a stop when they reached an old storefront. "This is the address in the letter," he said absently as he checked the paper in his pocket.

She winkled her nose and leaned over to look at the address before she nodded, she didn't mind being treated like a kid-- Pie was older and bigger than she was by skads. "Best go in an' see what's what then.. c'mon." Readjusting her hat on her head she turned to walk into the store.
