Pie followed her in, glancing around at the jumble of junk that made up the inside of the store. A man sitting behind the counter stood up when he heard the bell on the door. "Whaddaya want?" he asked Pie and Fae, crossing his thick arms over his even thicker chest.
"I'm here for my idiot brother," Pie said flatly, lifting an eyebrow. "Cosmo."

Fae raised a brow at the man, blimey he had arms like tree trunks-- she glanced at Pie for a moment. "We'll just get 'im an' be on our way." She looked brave and unaffected by the size of the man, though she wouldn't have wanted to meet the bloke on the street.

The man fixed the pair of them with a blank stare, then waved one beefy hand toward the back room.
"Thanks," Pie said awkwardly, and hastily took hold of Fae's arm to pull her through to the back.

Fae swallowed and didn't protest being tugged, his hand swallowed up her arm anyway. "I've got a bad feelin' bout this.."

"Shh," Pie muttered as they stepped through the doorway. There were three people in the room -- two were tall and nearly as thick as the man out front, and the third a smaller, thinner version of Pie himself.
"Oh, hello, Niko!" the young man said cheerfully.
Pie narrowed his eyes at the boy. "Cosmo, what in the hell have you done now?"

Young and thinner and absolutely not even noticing that he was probably going to have his fingers broken for something. Fae looked up at Pie and stuck close, swallowing since he'd told her to shhh.. she didn't do shh very well. She always had a comment.

Cosmo ignored Pie's question, turning his bright gaze to Fae. "Who's this, then? Your girl?" He gave Fae a broad smile, showing his teeth. "Very pretty."
"Cos," Pie snapped sharply, then glanced at the two men in the room with them. "How much does he owe?" he asked the closest one.

Fae raised a brow, she was pretty? She glanced up at Pie not even registering the rest of the question about being his girl. "He's a queer one in'e?" she turned her head back to the questions and tilted her head, aye? So? What's the blighter owe and were they going to remove digits...

Pie gave an absent nod to Fae -- Cosmo was beyond weird. He was an idiot.
The goon Pie had addressed straightened and looked down at Pie and Fae with a frown. "How much d'you got?"

"Well more we wanna know where the lines are," the Irish girl replied, not even the least bit sheepish about talking to someone more than twice her size. "Ya know- how much does he owe, how many fingers-- that kind of thing."

"Fingers?" Cosmo asked, widening his eyes.
"Cosmo, shut up," Pie muttered, then turned to the guy, folding his arms. "We're takin' Cosmo with us, he's keepin' his fingers, and you and your buddies stop messin' around with teenagers, okay?"
"He owes us money, boyo," the other man announced in a rumbly voice. "We ain't just lettin' him go 'cos two little kids come in and ask for him."

"Ya do somethin' stupid ya're libel to miss a few," Fae replied with an all knowing nod, though she looked at the man and spoke. She took his measure with her eyes, "What's he owe?"

"Thirty dollars," the man answered, staring Fae down with his bushy eyebrows drawn low.
"Thirty-- Cosmo, Christ, how did you manage that?" Pie sputtered, whirling on his brother. That was at least three days' worth of selling papes!

Fae nodded her head and turned to Pie, putting her hand on her hips as she caught a hold of his neckerchief and pulled him down so she could speak in his ear. "How much ya got on ya? Think I can spot maybe ten.." It'd be her eating money and she narrowed her eyes before he could argue. "He'll be missin' fingers if'n we don't give em somethin'... he might still.."

Pie blinked as she tugged him down to eye level -- he really needed to stop wearing that damn thing around her, it was starting to feel like a leash. "Fae, he's my brother, I'll take care of it." He sighed and fished in his pocket, pulling out the handful of dollars he had and thrusting it toward the first man. "There," he said shortly. "Can we take my stupid brother now?"
