Priest was awake and dressed when Monday reached his door and knocked.
"Didn't expect you here so early," he told Monday when he opened the door.
"This was important," Monday answered coolly, pulling out the gun and pointing it at him. He fired a shot.
Priest ducked in time to miss the bullet -- it grazed his shoulder as he hit the ground and pulled out his own gun from under his vest. "Fucking traitor," he roared, and fired. The bullet struck Monday in his thigh, and he stumbled backward out of the room, fell, and toppled down the stairs.

((oh no!!))
Piper heard a thud and ran to the foot of the stairs, only to see Monday bleeding and bruised at the bottom of it.
Shit shit shit! It didnt look like he was successful, especially with Priest yelling upstairs.
Piper whistled at one of Monday's confidants to help her, and they quickly carried him out the door and into a cab.
She told the carriage driver to take him back to her apartment in Queens. It was the closest place and he was losing blood.
Piper rested Monday's head in her lap. "I'll help you." she assured him. "don't worry."

((I feel like the sad trombone "whomp whomp whoooomp" noise is appropriate here )) Monday groaned miserably, dizzy with pain, and shook his head. "Fuckin'... disaster," he managed to mumble. He squeezed his eyes closed -- it hurt too much to think, and the damn carriage was bouncing so hard he thought he might faint. But he wouldn't fucking faint, not in Piper's lap, for God's sake. After a moment of squinting against the burn in his blood, radiating from his thigh, he swallowed. "You need to... get outta town."

"I'm not leaving you like this," she snapped, taking off her coat and trying to stop the blood.
When the carriage stopped in front of her place, she realized this may not be the best idea. "Monday where should I take you?"

"Back to Brooklyn," he ground out, glaring up at her hazily.
At the front of the carriage, the driver turned around and frowned at the scene. "You'll be dead before we make it out of Queens, Monday," he said worriedly. He glanced at Piper. "I can take him to Madame Marie's, miss," he offered. "It's only a few blocks away, and she'll keep you two safe."

"Jesus," piper muttered, but nodded, not wanting to waste anymore time. The last thing she wanted was to involve more people, but she knew the Madame had a good relationship with Monday. "Stay with me, Mon." she said, running a hand through his hair.
When they arrived at the brothel, the driver helped Piper carry Monday in through the back.

The guard at the back door led them up to a room at the rear of the building, up the stairs and near the exit. The driver led Piper into the room and awkwardly deposited Monday on the bed with a grunt.
Monday groaned miserably as the movement jolted his leg. He shook his head, fading out, and finally passed out.
"I'll send for a doctor, miss," the brothel guard said from the door. "He's discreet."

"Hurry," Piper ordered, and sent a girl who curiously poked her head in to get towels. When she returned, piper sat down on the edge of the bed, trying to control his bleeding.

Soon the driver returned with the doctor, who hurried into the room, set his bag down on the floor by the bed, and leaned over to look at the wound on Monday's thigh.
"We'll need to get the bullet out," he said quietly, and sent the driver back out for hot water and alcohol. The doctor then turned to Piper and gave her a kindly smile. "You've done well to slow the bleeding, my girl."

"Just help him," she replied, taking his hand and bringing it to her lips to kiss.
"I'm here, Mon. You'll be okay." she squeezed his hand.

Monday groaned faintly, and the doctor got to work taking out the bullet. By the time he finally removed the hunk of metal out of Monday's leg, Monday was moaning in pain, and his forehead was prickled with sweat.
"Let him sleep a bit," the doctor told Piper after he cleaned the wound. "And don't let him get out of bed."

Piper nodded. "thank you, doctor." she wiped Monday's brow and then reached into his pants and retrieved his wallet. She took out all his cash and added the rest of the cash she had on her to pay him.
Once the doctor left, she sat down on the edge of his bed and lifted a glass of water to his lips.

Groggily, Monday opened his eyes into slits and gave her a pained glare as he sipped the water. It hurt too much to speak, otherwise he would have cursed her as long and as loud as he could. Why the hell was she still here?

Piper glared at him back. "Sleep now, give orders later." she blew out the candle next to his bed and laid down on the floor next to his bed, falling asleep.

He lay for a few minutes in the dark, blearily squinting down at Piper's shape on the floor, then drifted off as well in a haze of pain and alcohol.
The next morning, just as the sun fell through the windows onto the floor, Monday awoke to the ache in his leg throbbing angrily. He grunted as he pushed himself up, staring down at the bandage wrapped around his thigh.
"Fuck," he muttered wearily.
