"Oh, got it," said Ershey, nodding. "You plannin' on living here for a while? In the lodging house, I mean." Maybe it was all the nail polish but Ershey was starting to feel close to the girl. It was hard to find a friend, nowadays.

"Who knows?" Sapphy shrugged, usually she was all, 'I'm going out west!' and 'Fuck yeah, California!' but today she wasn't in the mood. She was feeling a little hopeless... She was happy for Ershey's company, it helped.

There was just something very intimate about painting another girl's nails. Sapphy just opened up.
