Blink approached the steps first, laughing hysterically over something. He stopped and grinned at Sapphy and Ershey widely. Their skin was glistening with sweat and their pants and shirts were rolled up past their knees and elbows.
Perfect. He sat down between them.
"Ladies," he greeted, putting his arms around their shoulders. ((I totally imagine him saying this a la Demetri Martin -- you know that sketch?))

A furious blush crept onto Mush's cheeks, but not because he was embarrassed. He just hated seeing Blink's arm around Ershey's shoulder. He sidled up to Ershey, took Blink's hand in-between two fingers, and threw it off. All without saying a word.

Ershey had been busy blowing on her newly painted nails to dry them off, not noticing the boys until Blink's arm went around her shoulder. She looked up, surprised to see who it was. "Eyepatch kid!" muttered Ershey, remembering her and Sapphy's conversation earlier. But before she could say anything else, she saw Mush, not even realizing that he had moved Blink's arm off her shoulder.
Her eyes widened and she smiled happily, "Hey Mush!"

Race trailed behind the others, reading his last newspaper and still smirking to himself about their uptown antics. When he heard female voices, however, he tossed the paper aside and swept off his hat. "Sapphy! And..." He looked from the second girl to Mush and back and raised an eyebrow. "Could it be the famous Ershey?"
Blink seemed to have attached himself to Sapphy. Race tried to ignore that fact. 'Through with love' couldn't possibly mean 'with everyone but your best friend', right? Besides, she'd seen Blink eat. That was like the thing with him and Raven and the spaghetti. Sure to kill the very possibility of romance.

Sapphy smoothly took Race's hat between her fingers and put it on her own head, she smirked between Mush and Ershey knowingly.

Mush cleared his throat about five times before he was able to speak.
"That's Race. He, uh, he's sick. Mad. He thinks everyone's famous." That was the best explanation Mush could come up with on a moment's notice.
