Specs nodded, recalling her spot in Central Park. After their run-in at the Park, Specs couldn't help but walk by her tree every now and then. After the incident at Irving Hall, he was too scared to face her yet still wanted to see how she was doing. He slowly walked towards the tree, trying not to seem as if he had memorized where it was.
Laying the blanket down on the ground, he handed her the book and smiled. "Here you go. Now, serenade me with your reading about Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth."

Tag laughed as she took the book and opened it to the first page.
She began reading the first page, though she hardly had to look at the words. She'd memorized it by now, it seemed. Her voice was soothing but pleasant, and her English accent came in handy seeing as the book is set in England.

This is definitely a better idea than reading it alone, thought Specs, laying down on his back as Tag started reading. Lizzie decided to lay down on his stomach, just as content as he was. He listened to her voice, amused and awed by her English accent.

As she read, Tag couldn't help but offer her own thoughts on what the characters did or said. She hoped Specs didn't mind, for she doubted she would be able to keep quiet.
At the end of chapter two, she took an apple and bit into it. "What do you think?" She asked, wiping off some apple juice that had dribbled down her chin.

"I'd have you read anything to me in your English accent any day," said Specs, smirking. Oh wait, she meant the book... "Uh, er... I actually like it. There's a ton of characters but that's what makes it fun."
He sat up, gently placing Lizzie on the ground as he bit a slice of bread and cheese. "I like it when you read. It's better."

"I don't mind reading the whole book to you. Not in one sitting, of course. But maybe.... We could read some every day." Tag had always wanted to get male's perspective on the book; her dad had never read it, but now she would do whatever it took to get Specs to read it.
She took another bite of apple before tearing off a small piece of cheese and feeding it to Lizzie.

Specs beamed, smiling. "That sounds like a good idea." He liked the idea of spending time with Tag and having her read to him was the best way to unwind. It was the most relaxed he's been since he'd first met her. He missed being comfortable with her.
"Starting tomorrow, at this spot near sunset?" he asked, grabbing an apple and biting it.

"Deal." She nodded once before setting the book down and getting a slice of bread.
"I saw an alteration shop that's hiring. I might go there to see if I can get a job."

"You're thinking of getting a second job?" asked Specs, confused. He was completely caught off guard; it didn't seem like Tag had too much money problems.

"Well, I already work at a used book store, but only rarely. And the pay is awful. But this shop... I was hoping some day it could turn into a full-time occupation."
Tag didn't necessarily want to be a seamstress for the rest of her life, but it was something she was really good at. And if she could make a decent living off it, then why not?

"I never thought you'd want to work as a seamstress," said Specs, still a bit dumbfounded. "I saw you more as owning your own bookshop or something... or teaching, maybe. Then again, if that's what you really wanna do... as long as it makes you happy." He smiled at her reassuringly. He wanted to show her that he'd always be there to support her, no matter what.

"Well, this job might be a bit easier to obtain than a teaching job. I'm quite good at sewing, though, so it won't be all that bad."
She shrugged, watching two squirrels run around nearby.
((Okay, I'm off!!))

((Have fun! ) Specs nodded, listening intently. "No harm in trying," he said, shrugging. "If you don't like it, you can always find something better. 'Sides, now I know who to run to when I've got holes in my pockets."

Tag laughed, smiling as she did so over at Specs.
"Yes, of course. I'd be more than happy to patch up anything you need. The other day, Mush had me sew up a hole in his pocket."

"That'd be probably a good idea to fix," said Specs, chuckling. "I'm guessing you'll be working around here in Manhattan?" Specs didn't want her to go too far. Sure, she was a big girl and everything but he wanted to make sure she was safe. Plus, he wanted to see if he could drop in from time to time to visit her.
