Tag thought for a moment, looking around the parlor as if the paintings and old wallpaper would help her decided.
Finally, she just shrugged.

"You... don't want to do anything?" said Specs in confusion. He just asked her that they could do anything she wanted and she shrugged. At this point, Specs was sure he didn't understand girls. "We can go as far as Brooklyn, if you want."

"Oh, I'm sure I don't want to go to Brooklyn. All the things I've heard..." Tag shuddered a bit. The gambling, drugs, prostitution... No thanks.
"Maybe... a picnic?" Tag was really open to anything; she was quite easily entertained, but she spent most of her time daydreaming about fictional characters, not real life. She had never really made a bucket list of things she wanted to do in New York.

Brooklyn? Why the hell did he just suggest Brooklyn? Good move, Specs.
"W-we can have a picnic in Central Park," he suggested, looking hopefully at her. "We can bring food and books and... do anything we want afterwards!" He just wanted so much to please her and spend time with her that doing anything would've been fine.

Tag smiled and nodded.
"That sounds quite lovely." Maybe she should bring The Jungle Book with her instead of... well... the one she was reading now.

"We can even bring Lizzie along," said Specs, holding up the tiny cat with both hands. "I'm sure she'll have fun." And I hope you do too.

Upon hearing Lizzie's name, Tag had an idea.
"Oh, we could bring Pride & Prejudice and I can read it aloud!" Back when Tag's little sister, Daisy, had been quite young, she had often read aloud to her at night. Daisy would beg and beg her older sister to read, claiming she had the best reading voice she'd ever heard.

"You'll read to me?" he said, quite surprised by her sudden suggestion. He did say they'd do whatever she wanted...
"Of course, we can do that! Seeing as how I haven't gotten far, I think it's a good idea. You can charm me with your voice," said Specs, teasing her.

"We can go now?" said Specs, glad that Tag was excited for their outing. His plan was to read and brood about Tag but spending time with her was definitely a better plan.
"I've got the book here... I'll grab a blanket upstairs. Can you check whether or not we have any food around here?" The sun was still up and Specs wanted to enjoy the warm sun as much as he could before it grew cold again.

Tag nodded vigorously before getting up and heading to the kitchen.
She came back into the parlor a few minutes later with two apples, some slices of bread, cheese, and a couple of tomatoes. "Is this all right?"

Specs nodded, coming back with a blanket and basket that he found in the basement. "That's perfect," he said, opening the basket as he put the food inside.
He smiled, blanket and book in hand as offered her the basket of food. "Ready?"

"Ready!" Tag clutched the basket tightly, not wanting to drop the food and ruin everything.
She followed Specs outside, squinting at the bright sun. Lizzie was following at her heels, carefully avoiding the people and the horses just as well as her owner.

Specs almost reached out his hand to hold hers but realized that it wasn't very friend-like. He sighed quietly, thinking that this was definitely harder than he initially planned. Despite his worries, Specs happily followed her outside, adjusting his hat before heading towards Central Park.
"Your usual place at the Park? Where I saw you last time?" he asked, looking over at her. She was just as more beautiful outside in the sun then anywhere else and Specs couldn't help but admire her.

"Yes, all right." Tag nodded slightly and made her way toward her tree in the park.
There had been something about Specs adjusting his hat like that that made Tag's heart jump a little. She wasn't sure friends felt like that about a silly little hat adjustment...
