Specs looked over at Tag, noticing her behavior. He smiled and nudged her foot gently with his. "You're the most beautiful girl in here. They've got nothin' against you."
He mentally patted himself on the back, surprised at how brave he was around her.

Seeing as all the other girls in the restaurant looked freshly bathed and made up in lovely dresses, Tag was sure Specs needed his glasses checked. But, she would try and take the compliment gracefully.
The waitress came back to take their order, and Tag told her politely that she wanted a plate of spaghetti, please.

Ordering spaghetti as well, Specs smiled at the waitress before she walked away. It was definitely different being in a fancier place, where they actually had plates and forks on the table and where waiters paid attention to whether you were enjoying your food or not. He didn't care as long as Tag was having a great time.
"Do you mind if I ask you something?" said Specs, grinning at her.

Specs laughed nervously, still trying to get used to being open with her. He was always so careful before that he couldn't help but worry every time he asked something.

Tag hadn't ever thought that he didn't know her real name; and she didn't know his!
"Lillian." She replied, her cheeks tinged with pink. "Lillian Anne Wellsley."

Specs smiled brightly. "It fits you," he said, wanting to reach over to hold her hand. But at places like this, he knew it wouldn't be acceptable. "Lillian. Just as pretty as you."

"Tag it is, then," said Specs, smiling brightly. He had to admit, her name was definitely beautiful. He'd have to save calling her that for special occasions. But he fell for Tag, the newsie and not the fancy-sounding Lillian. Either way, he liked her and was glad to be with her.
Right on time, the waiter arrived with their dishes, setting the plates down before them and leaving with a bow.
