"Niagara Falls would be awesome," Sapphy sighed. "Or Italy."

"Or California." Zippy added, thinking about how her brother Eli always talked about going out there and finding gold. "So your new here, Sapphy? Is this your first week selling papes?"

Sapphy laughed, briefly distracted by the California comment but moved onto the question.
"Yeah, oh wow. I'm pretty terrible."

"Yeah, I'm not that great at it either. Its a lot of hard work, and I'm not that creative with it," Zippy admitted.

((OK we need to do something creative to keep this going bc both Sapphy and Zippy are way too awesome to have a boring conversation haha. you got anything in mind of something ridiculous they can do? I'm thinking they can steal supplies to bake cookies, spy on the boys in the boys bathroom, search through old stuff in the attic and find someting awesome, etc))
"What brought you here? You know, to this house, to being a newsie?" Zippy asked, leaning against the edge of the roof.

((Boys in the bathroom, obviously.))
"I tired of the life of piracy, and came back onshore for the first time in twelve years," Sapphy grinned. "What do ya'll do for fun around here?" she asked, sitting up. She looked over the side of the building and pondered how high up they were for a dark moment.
She turned back to Zippy with that grin still on her face.

Zippy shrugged. "Sleep, mostly. We gotta get up early and then we run around all-" She stopped, tilting her head. "Why....why are you grinning?"
((okay, its just unfortunate that the 2 male newsies i play are Leo and Spot, and spot isn't even in manhattan haha))

((Well, what if they spy and comment and Leo can be their only real interaction? I can also bring Blink in.))
Sapphy only smiled bigger, awkwardly. She shrugged hugely.
"I can't sleep easily," she divulged, looking down at the fire escape. "How strict are they about girls on the boys' floor and boys on the girls' floor? I thought I saw a boy in our room today..."

Zippy chuckled. "Not terribly, they are more concerned about people making noise at night when people are trying to sleep. But the bathrooms...that we respect. People get upset if bathroom rules are broken, some people are more traditional than others, you know?"

"Aw hell, I don't even know any of you yet and I do nothing but walk around in my unmentionables on our floor. It's too hot to wear clothes this time of year!" That, and Sapphy was always comfortable with her body. "We're young and stupid and the next generation! Who cares about gender?"

"Hey kiddo, I'm with you. I've read all of the works on Victoria Woodhull, my favorite advocate for free love. I say we have mixed gender bathrooms! The guys get way better showers anyway, or so I hear." And she may have snuck a peek inside. Once. It was the middle of the day and no one was around!

"I mean, yeah, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it or try to not give into stereotypes... Boys are disgusting. Their bathrooms are disgusting. I have a sixteen year old brother, I know," she laughed. "But I agree. I'd like a decent shower before and after I bust my ass all day selling."

"Our shower pressure is terrible. Which is ridiculous because we should be thrilled to have indoor plumbing in the first place," Zippy admitted, and then glanced over at Sapphy. "HEY. We should wait until all the guys go to sleep, and then take a shower in their stalls. You need a shower anyway."

"What? You mean dirty rain water isn't an appealing smell?"
